This video inspired me to use google maps to explore places i used to live and schools i used to go to, i went to opequon elemetary (its fine, i dont live anywhere near that now and my name has changed since lol), but i look there now and even the earliest i can see they had a whole new housing development built there after i left, which idk, is just wild! it kinda kills the nostalgia tho. but also somewhat, theres things i remember that bring me back so idk. other places i visited of my childhood kept a lot of the nostalgia, even looking back on the pre 2010s views where they existed, and thats fun as it gets to see. im so glad google street view kept all the versions, bc it really holds a place in my heart in some of these views, as silly as that might be to say

Street view makes a big difference in my work. I live in the UK and as many will know, parking here is inescapably crap. I very often look at street view to see possible parking spots where I have to go. It's been invaluable

because of law street view of germany was completly new done around 2 years ago. before that there were only images from 2008 of major cities because of privacy law back than. because google set it up new so the old sues werent available anymore. but now all the old images are gone :(. and there is no different time available. I mean there is a private company which memoriezes the WHOLE COUNTRY and they pay for it and its available for everyone for free. it would love to view places here at different times and it will never be possible to catch that missing time again...

I ended up looking up my street in google maps after I watched this to see what the road I live on looked like 11 years ago. My dad told me not long ago about how he would burn tired up and down the road and sure enough there was the tire marks that he left up and down the road, and there was his 1980's monte carlo that he had at the time. I was 5 so I don't remember him flying up and down the road with it, but I sure remember the car. Good memories

wow. i remember being 6 and messing with street view. little did I know that it was the combination of me being born in 2001 in denver that this was possible! A lot of areas, especially in the foothills, are all still from 2007. additionally, we should talk more about the history view in google earth! my area has old maps and plane-based photographs from the 1950s, even!

i watched my old village again. there is almost no streetview available. back then every single street from the village was covered with streetview. today there is only 1% of all the footage left. sad, because i was sitting on the bench with all of my friends back then in school. it was a pretty fun gimmick to go back in time and look at us hanging around.

There is a country where it now is illegal to Google Street View in it, but it has a 2008 coverage. Germany it is!

2:31 I knew there will be a special part in this video for Germany even this is not the whole story. A German politician also made a joke claiming that Google will also take pictures through your windows to show the inside of your house. Many people thought this was true and... you can imagine the rest of the story since Germans really care about their privacy (despite knowing/acceping that Google, facebook etc already know everything about us). The story of Street View in Germany could be big enough for an extra video. Greetings from Germany. 🤣😅

Yeah, Germans have become kind of stupid and slow-to-change when it comes to technology. What is the problem when you can see the house from the street in real life too? There should be no privacy concern whatsoever. Faces and license plates are blurred. Fortunately they have finally joined the streetview countries.

Great video! A little note tho: As someone who is sensitive to flashing lights, please put a flash warning, when the images are switching the red flashy color makes it strobe-like :)

Actually, some cities in Mexico were added in July 2007, an example is Tijuana, which is closer to California, most spots are the ''Vía Rápida freeway''
