I normally spend months teaching my 7th graders about Kansas history, but here is nearly all of that content in one video. One really, really epic video. The script for the video was made by some of my 7th grade students from this past year. They did a phenomenal job!

It's a meme that's been going around for a while everyone replies a comment saying darude-sandstorm and it's because a guy liked the song and he made a video and replayed the song 5 times and that's how the meme started but it's a pretty good song.

The French also explored Kansas back in the 1600s. They discovered the Kansas nation living along the Kansas River, and Osages along the Osage or Marais des Cygnes River. The Great Osage and Little Osage nations had their villages down in what is now Linn County, Kansas. The French set up a trading post along the Osage River and traded goods for fur with the Osage. The French took these furs down river to St. Louis, and from there to New Orleans and to the European markets. The Osage would plant crops in the Spring time, then during the summer, hunt the Bison on the prairie. When the harvest time came, they would come back to their villages made of wood and bark, and reap what they had sowed. Then, in the winter, they would hunt in the hills and mountains of the Ozarks. Their country was vast, all the way north to the Kansas River, South to the Arkansas River, and East to the Mississippi River.

But we are a very proud people and i feel lucky to come from humble beginnings in what most consider a fly over state. That actually played a very important role in the history of our country. My great grandfather moved to Kansas in the Emporia area shortly after it became a State. He came from Berks County, PA, and was of German descent. Imagine that... Marburger being German. His eventual wife was from Switzerland and was Swiss-German. My grandfather eventually came to California where my dad, and eventual I, was born. Eventually I want to get out to Emporia and do some genealogy.

Good show, however he forgot to mention the first pandemic flu outbreak in 1918 (I think that was the year) which took the lives of people all over the world (well mostly the western hemisphere). This flu, known as Swine Flu, was traced back to its very beginning at a pig farm in Kansas.

Every state should have it’s own history represented, since I’m Puerto Rican and still plan on living here for the rest of my life, the history here is sacred to me, so many people wander off and just don’t care but I’m afraid this history will be revisioned by strangers the same way that it happened to Hawaii.

Very Good Job. Low farm prices in Kansas caused significant farm movements in 1920's, 1960's and 1980's. So, Kansas has been a dominant farm protest state even after the Populist and Progressive Movements. Also, it is not so peaceful in Kansas now, partly due to the cultural divide in the country and the current Governor's economic experiment which seems to be failing.

My family have been residents of Kansas since the 1800s my mom comes from a white family that own a farm in Westphalia Kansas it was founded around 1886. I don’t know why my moms family came here but our family lived in poverty until limabeans price skyrocketed and my grandpa sold all his stock and soon after made a career in education. On my dads side is a little confusing. My biological grandparents are unknown to me or my family because my dad was adopted. And to my knowledge there weren’t extensive records of who the parents were back when he was up for adoption. I don’t know what ethnicity he actually is but his skin is extremely tan. Me and my sister got his hair and skin tone aswell. Anyways the family that adopted my dad are German. Last name is Habiger. My grandfather served in Vietnam and was awarded the bronze star as well. I don’t know why his family came here tho.
