• A Brief History of the White Bala Palace •
Bala Puti (Sumbawa language: White Palace) was initiated in 1931 by Sultan Muhammad Kaharuddin III as a symbol and center of modern government to complement the 2 (two) palaces that had previously been established, namely Dalam Loka (the center of the sultanate government) and Bala Kuning (the Sultan's personal residence). ),.
The architecture of Bala Puti is inspired by French architecture and has a North-South orientation as well as Dalam Loka, but Bala Puti faces North as opposed to Dalam Loka which leads to the South, this was completed in 1934,.
Looking at his age, Bala Puti meets the criteria as a Cultural Conservation as regulated in Law 11/2010 concerning Cultural Conservation which stipulates the minimum age of the building to be 50 years.
Apart from being a milestone in the desire to form a modern government, the construction of Bala Puti also actually had a romantic reason behind it, namely as proof of the Sultan's love for his empress who came from the Bima Sultanate.
Consolidated political background combined with romantic background in a geographical landscape is an interesting research area that requires further exploration.
Understanding why a historical heritage is important and what factors make it important is the main foundation.
Change is a necessity in history both due to natural factors as well as socio-economic and technological reasons.
Some people emphasize that the important thing is to manage these changes.
