Trim Castle in Irish Caisleán Bhaile Átha Troim is a castle on the south bank of the River Boyne in Trim, County Meath, Ireland, Over a period of 30 years, it was built by Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter as the caput of the Lordship of Meath. The Irish Government currently own and are in charge of the care of the castle, through the state agency The Office of Public Works (OPW).
The castle is on the List of National Monuments in County Meath.

It's only since I have started watching your videos that I have realized how interesting Irish Medieval History actually is. It's true that when you hear Medieval history, Ireland isn't the place that comes to mind. Thanks for changing that.

@@IrishMedievalHistory Not exactly Irish in nature, but have you considered doing a video about Nesta? From what I have read so far her kids and relatives were definitely major players in Irish history from the Cambro- Norman side.

Been to this castle before! Loved how it was used in the movie Braveheart but I guess the locals hate him there for what a wild man he was at their local bars and on set. If only he was more appreciative of the history! Awesome stuff as always! Congrats on being right at 1k!!

O! really? the locals I was talking to loved him. But your 100% right. Full on wild me. I see a good few people not liking that alright. I love Trim so much. Can't wait to get back up there again.

I am thankful for your history of Ireland coming to life and into light. My shields ancestors from Armagh area suffered much at the hand of Cromwell . Brothers William and James were captured in battle, and sent to Barbados on a slave ship. They made their way to what is now Williamsburg and the families branches out. One of their brothers , Daniel , was supposed to have died in battle in Ireland and the father , William, it is told, was sent to a reservation in western Ireland. The youngest brother , John, set sail for the American Colonies to join his family . He died at sea, but his family arrived in America. O e day I hope to go to Ireland and see where the Shields family lives and died. I owe them much. God bless you in your work, Eileen

@Irish Medieval History it's fascinating. Liked your speech at the end about Irish history and it deserves more recognition....I've helped out from my end (or started to at least). Have you seen my Flainn Fhinna Mac Ossu video? It's only a start but is going to lead to much more......just realised I only called it that in the podcast not sure the vid is.....might change that.....anyway it's the Aldfrith vid.

How about a video or series on Francisco de cueller* , the Spanish armada officer who wrote a tale of his irish experiences We hear of Fitzgerald's or O'Connor's, but the vast majority for the last 850 probably lived in subjection, or on the run ?
