The lady dancing is paro's mom and to humiliate her Dev's mom and sis in law trick her to dance in a gathering. She sings a song about love between Radha and Krishna. Song describes how Radha and Krishna used to meet near river That's what is depicted in other setting simultaneously where both actors are teasing each other.

Hi, this was my first Bolywood film that I have seen in my life. I watched it in the Hungarian television. I fell in love with Bolywood instantly. Devdas is so spectacular and emotional. Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixtri are beautiful, the songs are marvellous. The director created a film which is kind of a wonderful poetry, I love it. 😊😍

In case you missed, in the choreography, Aishwarya doesn’t put her foot with thorn on the ground. It stays in the air or the tree, but, not on the ground after she starts bleeding...

This is a beautiful song. It's not entirely devotional, though there are moments in the song that captures the love between Radha and Krishna, that is then juxtapositioned with the visuals of Dev and Paro's romance that is building up to that penultimate moment of love making. Without giving too much away, this song sequence is part of a very important - and crucial - scene in the film. As you pointed out there is ridicule, jealousy and mockery happening alongside passionate love making. The lady dancing is Paro's mother who is in support of her daughter's love, but they're met with objection from Dev's family. Will you share your movie review of Devdas? A parallel sequencee between a daughter and mother. Mother is dancing for her daughter, a father is crying for her daughter and wife, Where wife is dancing for herdaughter marriage with shahrukhkhan, a daughter is loving shahrukhkhan in the garden and the love in between both is compared symbolically as krishna and radha's love. Shahrukh khans mother invites aishwaryas mother to make her dance in fornt of the people for her daughter and insult her. there are many things the song. this song particularly tells many things

You got it pretty spot on. This is a really clever musical sequence in the film. The song is like a hymn - Lord Krishna and Radha’s love and strong devotion for each other is extensively covered in Hindu scriptures. The juxtaposition of SRK and Aishwarya then almost embodying the passion of the Krishna and Radha is beautiful. The song isn’t satire but the slight discomfort you get whilst watching the mother’s dance is brought into context when you watch the film.

yes,they are like Krishna&Radha -you get it all so well,man! The Paro's mom who dances is going to be humiliated very badly by Devdas mom after the song.And the scene between Paro and Devdas is so rich of multilevel subtle symbology-incl.making of love for first time -presented so gently and sublimely that its just beyond words! BTW ,SRK is also a Scorpio like Ash in real life-born on 2.11.(Ash is born on 1.11) PASSION❤❤

Krishna is represented as ultimate reality and Radha its illusionary power(maya) They are considered same yet different, together always but separate. Like the sun and its rays- same same but different This concept presents a ripe case for arts and culture to depict tension, togetherness, longing. And therefore much of indian classical music and dances focus on this motif to represent love- Krishna and Radha (together but not really- like water droplets and the sea) Similar parellels exists with Shiva and Shakti(to represent more atomic themes) To add more color, Hinduism in general proposes that all being are this dance of Krishna and Radha, Shiva and Shakti, in a forgettful mood where both forget who they are and long for each other. Hence Hinduism always keeps stating 'know your true self and the illusion shall break into pure bliss'. Because also, the ultimate reality (Krishna, Shiva etc) are made of pure bliss' and their energies(goddesses) are there symptoms (like sun has rays, sea has droplets). And this dance(raas) of forgetful play is infinite and cyclical

Most indian songs and classical dances are sung and performed in dedication to god and parallels are drawn in love stories of God and their own self. Devotion and love are considered almost similar, this is a Hindu cultural thing, not religious. Devotee claims to have fallen in love with God, there is no concept of fear or anything else, it is believed soul falls in love with its creator once they realise it's existing. It has a lot to do with devotion, I don't thing people from other cultures can really get it if they do not have deeper context.
