A Broken 46233 Duchess of Sutherland Crewe heritage Centre to Butterley MRC 27th November 2017

Here's some footage of a broken 46233 Duchess of Suthelrand looking very sorry for itself after failing with a cracked flue tube :( behind 37669 running from Crewe Heritage Centre to Butterley MRC, at Langley Mill plus being shunted into The West Shed by 08331 with exclusive footage, this would be her last outing until March 2018 where she will hopefully be wearing 1938 LMS Crimson Lake Red. Very cool and well shot video. I know it's a matter of opinion but I prefer the Duchess in Brunswick Green as that's how I remember seeing her in the 1950s . . . at the end of the day though, colour is secondary to seeing her out and about . . . which I hope she will be again soon. Thanks for posting!

It seems like yesterday when my dad took my brother and me over to Boxmoor (near Hemel Hempstead) on the old LNWR main line . . . the highlight of a day by the trackside was always seeing the up Royal Scot come through at 5.00 pm, always headed by a Duchess. And our birthday treats were going to Camden Shed where we cabbed Duchesses, Princesses and Royal Scot itself . . . happily, my dad took photos all the time so I've got the pix to remember it all by.

Honestly, it's a real shame this had to happen to Duchess of Sutherland. Despite being a mostly LNER fan from the USA, I don't have a major preference to any one particular railway in the U.K. Most of the U.K. engines I like are from the LNER, the LMS, and the GWR.

The stripe denotes a locomotive that was banned from working south of Crewe on the west coast main line due to it's height because of overhead electrification work.

Great to see some of the glorious countryside. How about panning just a "tad slower" {00.50} It would make the viewing experience much easier to watch. That said,love the video. It's lovely to see some film of the engines being shunted,and,some of the "yard" activity. Well done.

The West Shed have confirmed it will be in Crimson Lake :) but sadly she won’t be back until June/July :(

Thanks glad you enjoyed it :) the coach is her support coach :) its basically a coach where crews for Locos stay to operate the Locos and keep parts to fix the Loco, Steam Locos usually always carry them :)
