Fun Fact: Most of the events, really happened and they happened almost exactly how they happened in the movie, with minor exceptions. the actor for Sonny, Chazz Palminteri, is the real “C” from the movie. It’s based on his childhood growing up around mobsters. There’s a few videos where he talked about the bathroom scene being a real thing. That was even the real Eddie Mush Lol.

The first time I saw this movie I wasnt much older than the kid and thought his father was overreacting.... in reality his father is one of the most respectable guy on the block and even though he took a respectable approach had balls of steel for even going in there with an opinion about his son.
@HorrorUberAlles4 жыл бұрын
Same here. I watched it in my early teens, many things went right over my head. Now on my mid-30s, it's like a whole different movie and yes, his father was the most honorable man on that block for sure. A similar thing happens when you rewatch "American Beauty": back then I thought the father was kind of a dick, now it's completely different, Spacey's character is much more relatable and the kids are nothing but brats.

This is one of the few gangster movies where they show how hard it is to be a 9-5 man getting up early in the morning to a repetitive job day after day for a business that pays you less than half of your normal worth in life. There's a reason why men from the 1900s would die by the age of 50-55, this working class lifestyle will kill the super depress/mental man by giving them a heart attack early on. Hence why the younger generation has already figured it out. Go get a partner but don't marry or have kids, much more easy to save $$ that way. The younger generation literally aren't for procreate anymore unless if you're a women who doesn't mind having a liter of fatherless kids living apartment style and off the government. "The working man" isn't what it use to be and for good reasoning.

One of my absolute favorite movies. Sonny was such a multilayered interesting character and not a cliché bad guy. This is what i love the most about this film. As a whole, this movie doesn't get the respect hit deserves. Unless you are from either NYC or a heavily Italian population such as here in Paterson, NJ. When I was around fifteen years old I used to go with my friend and his dad to an Italian American social club in Paterson, on Cianci Street. Sure there were the local Mafia hanging out. Card playing and the television showing soccer games. Being I was friend's with someone whose dad had connections, even though I'm not Italian (technically Sicilian) in the whole group, I was treated like gold. All the Italian ices, as well as espressos with cannolis I wanted, never had to pay anything.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie because I can watch this and it's like I know every one of these guys. These were the guys in my town, this is how they behaved and one of the ways they had fun. I don't mean mob guys- we didn't have much of that around- just guys having the time of their lives and filled with superstitions. My grandfather was just like Sonny. There's more one liners in and classic moments in this one scene, than ten entire movies from the post 2000's combined, half these kids now go to the movies every week, and they never realize they haven't seen a film yet, not even one......

Lol I wanted to see how much money sonny gave to C after it. If it was 1960 (not sure exact year) and that was a $100 it was equivalent to $872. If it was a $20, it was equivalent to $162. And he got two bills. So C walked away with either $324 or $1744 lol

@@isaz597 he C didn't rat on Sonny. That's why Sonny took C under his wing. C had one foot in the street...Sonny had his whole life in the street...so that's why Sonny took C under his wing and saved his life. Facts!!

@@gullybop1695 thanks for explaining the movie to me that I've watched 😂. We all know the kid didn't snitch & Sonny's affection grew for the child. Taking him under his wing 🤣. You've completely missed the point. If you're a parent you'd understand. When you have a child & you raise him to be good you don't want some immoral idiot to try to muscle in & take over your father duties. The Sonny character was a loser for doing that. He tested a man's manhood it the worst way possible just because he was in a position of power.
