Reasongs: 40.) I mean, yeah this isn’t great. I don’t think many people are gonna argue that. There’s a lot of stuff on this compilation that I like less though. (My Rank: 25) 39.) Again, this song isn’t great, but it has some entertainment value to it. This is my “so bad it’s good” song of the album. (My Rank: 24) 38.) This song is so damn charming. Every sample used just reeks of the Nerds, and it’s easily the most interesting dubstep tune Monstercat has released in the last couple of years. (My Rank: 2🤕) 37.) The buildups to these drops are legendary, and get me hyped up for the drops every time. I stand mostly alone on this one too (thanks for the love and support, Jayson). (My Rank: 10) 36.) This track just feels like filler. It seems like Slushii needed an extra track for his sets and just made the most generic Slushii trap song he could. Slushii has been on a roll recently but most of this EP didn’t do it for me, this track included. (My Rank: 38) 35.) The good news is that this isn’t generic midtempo. The bad news is that I find it even worse, featuring a lead sound that probably contributed to the hole in the ozone layer and some other unsavory elements. (My Rank: 39) 34.) Hearing an epic Tony Romera track works about as well as I expected. The buildup is actually so sick, and the drop is pretty cool too, but the synergy isn’t there. Tony Romera’s signature squeaky bass doesn’t work with the atmosphere created. (My Rank: 15) 33.) Nitro Fun riddim is ho hum, sounds like what I’d expect. (My Rank: 27) 32.) Ragga Twins are always good for a solid feature, and the drops are good, carrying some momentum and overall not doing anything to detract from the song. (My Rank: 16) 31.) I didn’t find anything special in this song, and I don’t remember how it sounds most of the time. (My Rank: 35) 30.) Generic moombahton track that does nothing to forward the genre, but doesn’t sound half bad. (My Rank: 26) 29.) You know when a large movie maker decides to reboot a fan favorite movie, knowing that people will go out and watch it? And you know exactly what to expect, and you know you’ll probably prefer the original work, but you still buy that damn ticket anyway just out of curiosity? The Sound that shook the ground. (My Rank: 29) 28.) Cool melody, okay off-drop, good pacing. (My Rank: 22) 27.) The Black Sabbath intro is awesome, and I love the samples used throughout the song. Even the buildup has some momentum. The first drop isn’t anything special, but I’m brainless so the one-note thing doesn’t bother me. The second drop is a cool switchup, though it does feel a tad slow. (My Rank: 5) 26.) It’s another one of those Bossfight songs that I choose to not listen to again because there is just nothing here for me. (My Rank: 36) 25.) The melody in the drops are cool and that’s about all I remember. EMEL, all love, isn’t particularly memorable here. (My Rank: 32) 24.) Props to Julian Calor for his interesting take on that 150 BPM Salvatore Ganacci-like house, but this just does not interest me. (My Rank: 33) 23.) I like the first drop decently enough but wow, the other drops are just so empty and have no interesting aspects. (My Rank: 34) 22.) This is everything I want it to be. The funky intro and midsection are lovely, and are so fun to listen to. The buildup leads well into the drop, which has some of the coolest basswork I’ve ever heard. The breakdowns are also icy, capturing the same mood that the intro and midsection captures while being so fun that I actively look forward to them. Great tune, even if I understand why this would be St. Not People’s Thing™️. (My Rank: 1) 21.) Jesus, another one I don’t remember at all. (My Rank: 30) 20.) Baller buildup, sick drop, would sound great live if people would play it. A great collab, and it sounds exactly like I’d hope it would. (My Rank: 6) 19.) This feels like someone else tried to make a RIOT song in order to get it on the album. It’s not bad, but lacks the RIOT character that makes some of their other Dogma Resistance tracks so good. (My Rank: 17) 18.) Gammer has officially set the Guiness World Record for “Most Happy Hardcore Songs Made that Redhawk Doesn’t Care About.” The ceremony is on Thursday, be there or be square. (My Rank: 37) 17.) I love this style from Crankdat. The vocals are fun, the buildups are great, and the chord progression in all three drops keep me interested throughout the song. (My Rank: 3) 16.) It’s no 1000 Cuts, but this is a very good trap song that did not disappoint me like it clearly disappointed at least a few others in the community. (My Rank: 7) 15.) Yeesh, Imma have to explain this one. You know that movie that is mostly good, but has that one moment that makes you feel uncomfortable, or brings up some traumatic experience, or invalidates the message of the rest of the movie? Yeah, that’s kinda how I feel about this one. The vocals are real good, of course, but the drop is so underwhelming that it retroactively makes the rest of the song underwhelming. This just isn’t my thing, and it doesn’t sound like it was made in 2019. (My Rank: 40) 14.) Basic Tokyo Machine stuff leaves this one unmemorable for me, but the ascension in the drop’s melody IS pretty cool. (My Rank: 23) 13.) Decent drum & bass track with cool basses but mediocre vocal chops in the drop. Don’t remember much else from this one. (My Rank: 28) 12.) It’s not bad, and has parts of it I like, but it just sounds off, and I can’t explain why. It sounds like it’s in the wrong key or something, if that makes any sense. (My Rank: 20) 11.) The one single from REAPER that doesn’t do anything too crazy. (My Rank: 19) 10.) The drops in this track are crazy catchy. (My Rank: 8) 9.) This has zero reason to be on Uncaged so it makes sense that Kad has it at #1. Fun song, and great idea for a collaboration, but it has some memorability issues for me. (My Rank: 14) 8.) I adore the vocal sample this song boasts, and the integration of that melody into the drop makes me irrationally happy. (My Rank: 12) 7.) This is very solid for what it is, though I prefer his stuff that underlines the Progressive in progressive trance, rather than emphasizing the trancey stuff that I’m personally not as into. (My Rank: 18) 6.) Of course Ben has this at #1 lmaoooo. It’s a real good dubstep track, and this gives me a link I can copy to anyone who thinks I blindly hate on Pickle Terror. (My Rank: 13) 5.) Hearing Koven follow this trend makes me sad. Koven used to be one of a kind in the “vocal-driven bass music,” and hearing stuff like this that sounds like it was made by other artists is the best way to send me running in the other direction. (My Rank: 31) 4.) Cool vocal samples, cool drop, I mean it’s Habstrakt what do you want me to say? (My Rank: 11) 3.) Stupid heavy, but in a charming way. (My Rank: 21) 2.) Seeing Whipped Cream on Monstercat undid years of stress, and it helps even more that the song is actually good. 1.) Even as the resident “Mazare isn’t a very good D&B artist” opinion haver, this is really something. The rawness of the vocals combines well with some aggressive sounding drops, and this is a memorable song and a fitting #1. (My Rank: 9)

How is power "so bad it's good?" That's just a badass song.
@lek2894 жыл бұрын
I fully disagree with your placement of battlecry but agree with you the drop is a little underwhelming. I don't get your reasoning for blackwater. The tune has amazing buildup, the bass-line in the drops is the good shit, and the guitar riffs in the buildup to the second drop are like a shot of pure Adrenalin. All things that seem pretty damn reminiscent of riot.
@telephonontv4 жыл бұрын
@@lek289 it's no The Mob or anything on dogma resistance that is eye-catching. Look, I like it. Probably like twice as much nowadays, but The Mob is equally eye-catching and has a lot more elements than Blackwater did. I guess it's a matter of choosing which track on Dogma Resistance is 10 out 10 and Blackwater is only and that is just solid but nothing legendary.
@lek2894 жыл бұрын
I mean I think its better then Aiwa and and disorder. I like most of the songs in dogma resistance but the slow yet thunderous buildup and payoff of blackwater with the guitar I prefer over disorder which is just too much noise without the same punch for me.

@Twtching4 жыл бұрын
My reasonings (in my rankings order) 40 - Gammer - Brostep Strikes Back (3.5) - I’m about to say something I’ve always tried not to say, because I don’t think it’s fair too. But after hearing some of the things this guy has made, I wholeheartedly believe Gammer chooses to make bad music. 39 - Crankdat - Who I Am (4.5) - I sometimes wonder what old monstercat dubstep would sound like with modern production. Now I know, and I never need to hear it again. 38 - Eptic - Violence (4.5) - Christ, people out here shitting on Power when the most generic Midtempo Bass song in the history of man is on the EP. 37 - Nitro Fun - Addicted (4.5) - Innovation in EDM is something that gains high praise by everyone. But Nitro Fun had such a good thing going with his complextro that he never needs to leave it. Case in point.. 36 - Gammer & David Specter - This Is The End (5) - This is a 5 because super Euphoric, vocal UK Hardcore is just generally good. But it’s overdone to death and this is no different, and nothing special. 35 - Slushii & Dion Timmer - Test Me (5.5) - I don’t wanna think about this... because it could’ve been way better, but instead we got a mess of every style that these artists do in one. 34 - REAPER - SICK FLOW (6) - Probably the weakest song by REAPER so far for me. But it’s REAPER, so it’s cool enough to not be a low tier song. 33 - Eptic - Power (6.5) - Theres plenty of bullshit brostep I do like, and there’s no defending why. I got nothing else to say here but only 7 songs in and we’re into songs in my pl. god I love this album 32 - Pegboard Nerds - Exterminate (6.5) - Drops are really really good, I don’t think all of the samples are mixed in very well though and that really hurts it for me. 31 - Justin OH & Xilent - Assemble (7) - This should’ve been so much more. But it’s still a Xilent and Justin OH collab so it’s not like it’s a bad song or anything. It’s gonna be a cool one in context of the album though, no doubt. 30 - Tony Romera - Heat Wave (7) - I like this trashy bass house style the more and more I listen to it (hey Super Hott). I like that a lot of the sounds used here wouldn’t typically found in the genre too. 29 - Dirtyphonics & Bossfight - Evil Inside (7) - Total banger, I wish all heavy dubstep sounded more like this, the world would be a better place. Wtf though, this is not the heaviest song on the label like people say it is. 28 - Bossfight - Beat Down (7) - I wanna take the time to praise what this man does in the offdrops of his songs. Because I feel like people focus more on the drops but a lot of my love for Bossfight in general comes from the atmosphere he builds between the stars of the show, not that I’m shitting on the drops though, holy moly. 27 - Habstrakt - Real (7) - This is just a Habstrskt song for me. All that means is that it’s super solid and sits comfortably in my playlist. 26 - Pegboard Nerds & Ragga Twins - Computa Hakka (7) - Computa Hakka was the highlight of PBNs EP last year. Not only does it do the whole reggae dubstep thing to a tee (well done Ragga Twins!) but the drops are really cool and the vocal chants feel more at home than the ones used in exterminate. 25 - Slushii - Watch Yo Back (7.5) - I don’t like this as much as I did when I put it on my best of September list. But it’s still such a hype trap song, even if it’s nothing more that - I really like this one. 24 - Notaker - From Dust & Ashes (7.5) - Honestly, this is not something I’ve listened to much but the big fat Notaker label attached to it means it’s probably a 7.5 or higher song. Definitely one that’s gonna grow on me even more. 23 - Julian Calor - Galactic Trumpet (7.5) - This isn’t quite there like it’s predecessor, Space Flute, is. But my god it’s still as fun as you can get and does lots of cool things, I love this guy so much. 22 - RIOT - Blackwater (7.5) - This one has only recently started picking up steam for me. Obviously, the theming is immaculate and among the best in all of music. The drops are growing on me (those guitars jheeez) and to be honest the only reason I ranked this as low as I did is because it’s not The Mob or Aiwa. 21 - Stonebank - Want Your Love (7.5) - It says a lot about this EP as a whole when my least favourite track is a spot below the halfway point on what could be my favourite Monstercat compilation since 030.
@Twtching4 жыл бұрын
(20-1) 20 - Tokyo Machine - TURBO (8) - Tokyo Machine had a very up and down 2018 but he got his ass back in gear in 2019 in my opinion. To the point where TURBO, which has drops as cool as it does, is one of the weaker songs he put out last year. 19 - KUURO & Clockvice - All Night (8) - Am more than happy to have another collaboration between these Titans, and even if it’s not as good as the last one, it’s KUURO and a Clockvice for heavens sake. 18 - WHIPPED CREAM & REAPER - Shouldn’t (8) - This is a total banger and that’s all I’m saying on the matter. 17 - Tony Romera & SQWAD - St Tropez (8) - Although I think Stuck In Your Head as taken the cake now, for a while this was the most Confession song on Monstercat. I like when Jackin house has funky aspects to it and the offdrop does that. 16 - Eptic & Dillon Francis - Let It Go (8) - I’m finding myself getting into these more bullshitty moombah songs. I’m finding myself getting into songs with the poppy, dancehall intros too. So I dig this to be honest. 15 - Pixel Terror - Bittersweet (8) - When I first heard this I wasn’t too hot on it. But I’ve really come around to it over the last month. It does a lot of things pixel terror gets right and has less grating and annoying sounds. I love that Lalala vocal sample too. 14 - Crankdat - Falling (8) - I hadn’t really realised it but Crankdat has been up there with my least favourite artists on the label over his tenure so far. But then he released Falling, and it’s incredible. That last drop is one of my favourites in all of 2019. 13 - Habstrakt - The One (8) - This is pure dirt and I love that. When it first came out I thought it was one of his weaker efforts, it sounded too much like All Night and a few other songs he’s made in the past. But then I came around to the vocals, then the drops, then the joblot. To the point where it’s closing in on my top 10 on a phenomenal compilation. 12 - Koven - Your Pain (8) - Something that’s really stood out to me, somehow even more than usual, is Koven’s production value. Songs like this and Give You Up have are at such a high quality to the point where I kinda lose interest by the time the heavy drop rolls around in this (it’s probably only a 6.5 drop or so) and it’s still my #12. 11 - REAPER - SAWTOOTH (8.5) - I wish I’d realised earlier just how genius this song is. Like seriously this is what artists that try and mix dark and heavy together should strive for. The leads and basses are punchy but the backing is super dark, and I mean super dark, it’s best shown in the last drop. Where you have to listen to it twice to hear everything that’s going on. Yeah this was probably the debut of the year for me. 10 - Tokyo Machine & YAKO - BAD BOY (9) - I’m so happy with how this turned out. It has all the charm of a Tokyo Machine song and all the heaviness of a YAKO song. It’s a perfect marriage o styles and one I wanna see again. 9 - Julian Calor & Aiobahn - Time (9) - At a time where I’m falling more and more out of love with this sort of house. Julian Calor (of course) is gripping on to me with some of the best melodies going. I mean Julians vibes matched with Aiobahns bouncy production made this one of my favourite if not my favourite commercial house song I 2019. 8 - REAPER - OBLIVION (9) - Theres probably only 1 song outside of my BO2019 that has a better drop than Oblivion’s second drop. One of the coolest things I’ve ever heard, in a genre that’s getting more and more tired. 7 - Protostar & hayve - Isolation (9) - Isolation is an absolute madness. It sounds like something crashing or someone having a mental breakdown. It’s ferocity isn’t really like anything else I’ve heard, and I have to commend it for that. 6 - Stonebank - To The Top (9) - I’ve spoke about this EP so often recently because it’s just insane. This has that classic Stonebank complextro feel to the first drop and then the second drop is far darker than anything (that isn’t dark of course) he’s ever made - and I love it. 5 - Justin OH - Don’t Bring Me Down (9.5) - My top 5 of this album all made my BO2019 - testament to how good a compilation I think this one was. This is just classic Justin OH man, I think that’s reason enough. 4 - Mazare & Phillip Strand - Battlecry (9.5) - Not everyone sees eye to eye with me on this, but I think Battlecry is spectacular. It has a very strong vocal performance by Philip Strand, and very powerful drops to boot. Everything Mazare does on uncaged is actually golden. 3 - Stonebank - Life & Death (9.5) - This is mental from start to finish, that last drop is another highlight of 2019 for me. 2 - Aero Chord - The Sound (9.5) - People don’t seem to know what they want from Aero Chord. Whatever he does he gets hate for. I for one know exactly what I want from him, and it’s this. 1 - Mazare & Essenger - Berserker (9.5) - Yeah yeah, Berserkers my number 1 you hate to see it, but who doesn’t love to hear it?
