This brought back memories of about 50 years ago when a neighbor gifted me a hackable he made. He was pretty well known and invented a tool to bevel the edges of the rawhide. He did beautiful work and l got to watch him work. He used hide from sick skinny cows because it was tougher His wife was right by him scrapping hair off the hides. Thanks for the memories and videos!!!❤❤❤❤❤

I still ride with a hackamore. Mine has a fiador and the mecate is made from alpaca instead of horse hair which is super scratchy. Some even made the mecate from an unbraided rope which also was softer on the hands When I rode with a horse trainer in the 70’s we didn’t loop the mecate but tied split reins to the bosal so that if we were to get bucked off the loop wouldn’t cripple the horse nor accidentally wrap the rider in the loop. Just FYI Also, there is no throat latch the only way to hold the hanger back was via the fiador

@@blacknatsu6623 That sold out years ago.. I do have a Buffalo piece I've been working on, time to time.. Called THE BOSS... It would be cast into bronze... not silver.. that would be done by another foundry... and would be much more expensive.. If I could even get it done..
