A/C charged and the wizardry explained. Science!

In this video, I go over the process to charge up the a/c in the Chevelle, as well as explain how the system works, complete with a science demonstration! I tried to cover a lot of ground quickly, so it's possible I might have misspoken or said something inconsistent. Let me know in the comments if you'd like some clarity. Cheers!

It would have been great if you'd gone over the clutch on the compressor. I have a 1970 El Camino with the original looking compressor but is 134 compatible. The clutch seems to be permanently engaged but I but I'm not sure if we're talking about a mechanical or electrical issue.

That could be a video by itself. Short answer; modern cars cycle the compressor off and on to maintain temperature in the evaporator. In these older cars, the compressor runs all the time (when the switch is on) and the expansion valve opens and closes to effect the amount of cooling in the evaporator. If the compressor is running with the switch off, then that's a whole set of diagnostics by itself.
