I don't know how you come up with that judgement. They did this CD after a car accident killed 9 of the family members. Some of the hymns were written by the Esh family themselves.

I find your use of the words "self-righteous" interesting. The irony is hard to miss. This is simply a family who had recently gone through an unimaginable tragedy, losing many members of their family, lifting the name of the Lord in song in the best way they knew. It wasn't meant to impress you. How long has it been since you gathered your family around a song book in the privacy of your home to praise the Heavenly Father together, from a well of inspiration within you?

@@bountywoodsfarm8594 The tragedy and my critique are 2 completely different things, totally unconnected. I am not against what they sing (which btw. very beautiful), I disagree with the the flimsy self centred style on artistic level with its spiritual implications. Spafford too has suffered immensely and yet look how beautiful It Is Well with My Soul is.

@@bottomfeeder208 I plead guilt to not worshipping in song anywhere near as much as I should. But this has nothing to do with my critique. My excuse that my voice is not something that would bring joy to any listener might be equally flimsy. Whether meant to impress is not something I considered. And this level of rushed emotionalism may well be sincere and thus pleasing to the Lord. Making it public is where my disagreement starts. As for self-righteous, no irony was intended. I meant the words in their by now literal understanding in current Christendom. The "look how pious I am" feeling flooded me. And yes, this might well be a matter of personal discernment, be it even only on emotional mechanisms.
