The colour works very well, when you consider 90% restored P 1800 are in white due to the Saint series.

There use to be a volvo scrap yard near me, and that is when I first seen one of these cars, and ya I fell in love with right off the bat. While everyone I showed the car too thought it was ugly, made me love it all the more. if I ever have the money to have one of these cars fully restored you can bet your A$$ that is gonna happen. nice video thanks. and add another sub and like to your list.

Phred Zeppelin. Wow! No has ever said to me they were ugly! The total opposite. I owned a black cowhorn bumper 1964 one (its my profile photo) and drove it daily for 12 years and everyone was blown away by it. Elegant yes, ugly no. They all must have been blind

Prices sure have shot up. I remember when they were still accessible to most. And even until a few years ago an ES was still affordable. All gone up now which is a pain.

No he isn't but we used the location near the Isle of Sheppey as it was a decent "meet in the middle" spot, which was Iwade. So you guessed the rough location well.

Hi 'Take to the Road'. Thanks so much for the reply. The Sheppey Bridge is very distinctive, and I thought the church to be 'All Saints', Eastchurch (inside which is a stained glass window dedicated to the memory of Charles Rolls). I was especially interested as I live not too far away in SE London/NW Kent and am the proud owner of a graphite grey 1966 Volvo 1800S. Great cars!! Kindest regards, Pete A

Not a problem Pete! Ah there's another All Saints not too far away then. When we filmed in Iwade I had noticed the All Saints Close road plus the chruch so had to fit that in as a subtle hommage to the tv show. Very cool that you have a 1966 1800S! Graphite grey sounds a really nice colour for it. Might see you at a car show in Kent some time😎👍

Ah! That's very interesting indeed. Didn't realise there was another All Saints church so close to Eastchurch. Some people love the graphite grey and red interior combination; personally I'm not a great fan; I feel like I'm driving a rain cloud, but there we are. There are a few pictures of my car on some of the FB Volvo 1800 groups, were you to be interested. I do very much like the light blue colour of Barry's car; it suits the 1800 beautifully. His is the same year as mine, as it happens. I should have said how much I enjoyed the video, by the way. Very nice indeed, so thanks so much for uploading. Kindest regards, Peter A :) :)

Thanks a lot Peter glad you enjoyed the film 😎 I think every county in the country has a handful of All Saints churches, it is a very popular name. Yes the light blue really does suit the 1800 lines and it is a colour you don't see too often. I have a grey Mk3 Golf GTi so I am a bit biased towards grey coloured cars. So yours gets a thumbs up from me 👍 You should watch my other film with a Volvo in it. That's the "Dedicated to Classics" film and it has a 1800ES in it. I actually drove that car briefly in London while filming and it was a breeze. Even around Elephant and Castle!

When you think of the P1800, and how the P1800 still to this day has it*s classic lines, & how the strohmberg carburators, were used in the the Amazon, the 164, and I believe the 140 series , it was also used in the P1800 hatchback,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

Yup the P1800 laid the foundations for Volvo’s later success. Sure the P1800 wasn’t a massive sales success that they had hoped for, but it was an important car.

@@TaketotheRoad When I visualize the Bertone 780, I can see some what the lines of the P1800 and to think they stopped making them,I just wonder in the 21st century, if they brought back the P1800 badge but with the new technology it would probably catch on other car makers, brought thetir cars but a retro look to the past maybe at the time it didn*t catch on, but it might by todays standards.

Yes the 780 carried on the GT coupe concept. Not quite as boxy as other Volvo’s of the era. And a cool car. Volvo are missing a sporting GT in their lineup right now. Too many SUVs😉

@@TaketotheRoad It*s like volvo, forgot their roots, and decided SUVs are more important, the company was founded on creating cars & trucks, eventually they created annother line called Penta, marine engines, constructionn equipment, and so forth, but I remember seeing a 1927 volvo car with wooden spokes, thencomes the 40s & 50s with the introduction of the PV444,P544, then in the 60s comes the Amazon & P1800, then comes the140 series,to be replaced by the 200 series then in 1982 till 1995, the 700 series, then comes the 800 series,900 series then the SUVs and the rest is history also forgot to mention, volvo White, there*s a market for everything.
