I’m just curious as to what convinces him Christianity is the right religion over islam.. why study the prophets family in so much depth when they have no relation to Christianity (as in- Christians believe Jesus was the son of God, not a prophet so there isn’t really a link between Prophet Muhammad and Jesus to Christians)

He is a Christian because he believes in the tenants of the Catholic faith as seen in the Creed. I’ve studied philosophy and Islam extensively, I have love and respect for everyone but I’m especially drawn to Shia Islam, but Christ lives in my heart. For many Catholics and Orthodox Christians we can empathize with the passion of the Shia. The feelings you have about Ashura and Karbala are close to how we feel about our Holy Week. So I can understand and educate myself but conversion isn’t an interest of mine. Many study eastern religions or philosophy without changing their core beliefs. Love and respect to all ❤️

It is not for the first time in the history (neither the last) of the religion to find women who were extraordinary! The women because of their nature are not eligible to formal (ruling) status however they are the epitome of the status of Siddiqa and this status can be understood only if Ali a.s. is known. Zainab, as we very often say, is Ali in female form in the Qarbala also she is Scholar without a teacher (as was her grandfather Muhammad s.a.) and Islam was saved by her so indeed we are very indebted to her and in a way she is even today symbol about our view for women in our society and symbol that the Muslim woman oppression is not ended yet.

@Fabiology Thats true. Shia are tiny minority accounting for only 15% Muslim population. Majority are Sunni. Assuming they will always remain minority and prosecuted as they have perhaps deviated from true Sunni Islam as attensted by majority?

If you saw a idiot that wasn't harming anybody with their beliefs would you go as far as killing them, just because you disagree with their point of view, like any normal person who truely knows their on the right path you'd just ignore them and let them be, but that's not what the Sunni are doing. In many Muslim countries you could pass as anything but Shia (Sunnis have a hadith were if you killed one you'd have a high ranking with God and would be blessed with your 72 black eyed virgins in heaven), and many of these countries band all of the Shia hadith books if not most but didn't do the same for any other belief. Tell me now if you were talking about the war on imam Hussain a.s. with his 72 soliders who were fighting against Yazids 30,000-60,000 army (who are Sunni, and many of the community highly respect them) would you say what you said; in the Quran minorities are highly more valued than majority, and following what most follow means nothing if it's not the truth.

My shia friend doesn't practice her faith and said her ex shia faith has become more of a catholic version of her old faith. She said its nothing what original Islam teaches. This man is a fool. If you are a Catholic priest you are supposed to believe in Jesus Christ, that He is the Eternal Word made flesh who dwelt among us. You are supposed to bring the whole world to Him. This not only supposed to be what you do but it is supposed to be what you want to do. That is quite frankly your job Father. We have a far greater Lady than that Father and a I will say a Hail Mary for you that you remember her, because the day is coming when you will stand before her divine Son and He will be your Judge. @Michelle A I'm sorry but what this man is doing will not lead to peace because it is based on a lie. I have heard him in other places speak of the 'holiness' of Muhammad ibn Abdullah whom Muslims regard as their prophet. But he is a Catholic priest and the words contained in Muhammad's Quran that speak about Jesus Christ are a rejection of everything that the Catholic Church has professed since the time of the Apostles and everything that this man has been commissioned to preach about Him. It is a rejection of the Nicene Creed which this man says out loud and professes to believe every Sunday and Holy Day when he says Mass. I will not deny the that the personal courage of Hussein and his companions is appealing and on the natural level if one seeks to emulate him in a stand for justice he will do well. But what Hussein and his companions held about God and his revelation was a mistake and it will not lead one to the eternal destiny that God has planned for them. It is this man's job to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to help them make their way to paradise and if he believes in the 'holiness' of Muhammad and wants to proclaim the virtues of Shia Islam then he should take off his Roman collar and stop living off the income of a Catholic priest. How would you feel if one of the Grand Ayatollahs of Najaf or Karbala like Ali Sistani or whichever marja is your guide stood up and set the Quran aside and started proclaiming the virtues of Maimonides or some other medieval Jewish rabbi?

@V I've looked into the Quran and its origins and have found that there many things in there that Muhammad could have gotten on his own from the world around him i.e. the Middle East in the early seventh century without the need to take dictation from an angel. But my main concern is for the soul of this priest: he is one of many right now who have traded an exalted vocation for a pile of sand.
