Still pissing myself laughing! Francombe is racing's funniest man. What a character. He could have easily made his mark as a stand up comedian. I used to love it when he took the piss out of Emma Ramsden, especially after her knickers (or stockings) fell down as she was interviewing the winning rider at some meeting a few years ago. There she was, trotting alongside the horse and rider as they were led to the winners enclosure....and her nix/stockings fell down! She had to walk like a drunken spazzy as she tried to stop them sliding any further! Oh boy, JF was like a dog with a bone and wouldn't give her a second's peace after that. Great guy. .

AlanOshea10 Yeah Alan, legend is right. What a great guy. I would love to spend a couple of hours in his company and listening to some of his racing stories. He isn't afraid to take the piss out of himself and that makes him even funnier.One of my racing heroes and certainly the most interesting..

***** he is one funny guy. you want to read his autobiography. lucky .... i cant remember what, it was a long time ago. it is class, them stable lasses was not safe, no wonder his wife miriam left him. i may go down to lambourn and have a pint with him i think lol. take care

kenny moore After reading your comment I will absolutely read his autobiography! I was fortunate enough to live in Lambourn in '66 but I never met JF, more's the pity! On my very first day there I called in the local betting shop and guess who I saw there studying form from the Sporting Chronicle pinned to the wall? Richard Pitman! He was dressed in his jodhpurs and roll neck sweater and flat cap. he was apprenticed to Fred Winter at the time.. I like him too. I have always wanted to go back to Lambourn but I have found out that it has changed, and not for the better. When i was there it was a little village, now it is a LOT bigger and even the fucking Asians have moved in. Once that happens it is the end of anything beautiful. Stay cool.
