The Zero on the mains and the Sync on the crosses at 52…my favorite by far 🤤

I’m just coming off a two month rotation of strings in my new 2023 Babolat Pure Aero+ and after about 10-15 different poly set ups (hybrid and full bed) at lower tensions I must say I am really enjoying the winner of that “string tournament” - A RESTRING ZERO / SYNC HYBRID. I have the ZERO in the mains at 32 lbs for maximum topspin and the SYNC in the crosses at 34 lbs for control and to temper the liveliness of the Zero mains. I think the result is the best characteristics of both strings in the proper amounts. Further, I think that it’s a good match with the Pure Aero in this configuration. I might’ve switched the strings in the opposite configurations if I was playing with an 18 x 20 racket or a more control oriented frame. I’d be very curious to see what your thoughts are over at Tennisnerd if you string this hybrid up at low tensions to reduce the stiffness and increase the ball pocketing and let me know what you think.

@@Tennisnerd I would love to see what you think of this set-up in your Pure Aero if you string it up. I thought the low tension opened up the RESTRING hybrid set-up and improved the pocketing and feel and of course nice spin from the ZERO and nice Control and feel from the SYNC. Seemed like the whole was greater than the sum of its parts when you blend the two at low tension. Much like ALU Power, the SYNC seemed to shine under 35 lbs.

A couple of things: 1. The fact that it's taken 30 years for a company to come up with a realistic alternative to ALU is a pretty impressive feat in itself 2. There should be a new category of string, called the "influencer" string. There are so many of these small companies promising the world of better everything and getting pushed heavily on social media, but when you hear of the actual realistic reviews on the ground (non-influencer tennis players), the reviews of these strings are very much the opposite. 3. I applaud Jonas for actually giving a decent review, rather than shitting on the other string for comparison, just because it was expensive or to get some clicks.

I have been having very good luck with many of the strings I’ve mentioned at low tensions under 40 pounds. I would certainly say that if you have elbow problems, try stringing something up around 35 pounds and see how it plays. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I like shaped strings too, but somehow round strings often feel a bit better to me and play more consistently over time.
@magnusforce5
@magnusforce5 4 ай бұрын
@@Tennisnerd Jonas, I'm pretty sure it's all about physics and geometry. For round strings, as mains slide over the crosses, the area of contact between them increases steadily, friction increases and eventually the main string almost clamps into the cross string. The snapback disappears, but this still gives us a low launch angle and control even with low stringbed stiffness. For shaped strings, the contact area between mains & crosses does not increase so much due to wear, so after a few hours of play we end up with a high launch angle and low stiffness => rocket launcher

Could we have a genuine tension test. All I want to know is once strung how long a poly lasts before it’s dead. Alu power for me as a twice a week player was dead after 4 weeks in both my first racquet with 6 hours played and my 2nd racquet with 0 hours on it.
