I just love how no matter what Perfume video I watch, in the comments, I can always recognize other people's accounts. Not many people will like Perfume, or be dedicated fans, but at least there's those few people who love Perfume just as much as I do.

Yuka - "Damnit A-Chan, where am I going to get another snowglo…. Oh wait, here's FOUR MORE!" And seriously, a close up of the nicest shoe box I've ever seen, the packing material, the shoe trees, all that anticipation, and they cut away from the actual SHOES. I mean, if that's the BOX, that's got to be a serious shoe... even assuming its not one of their engineered dance shoes, its not like she's going to settle for inferior footwear. What's up with that shoe is all I'm sayin... BTW, that shoebox is nicer than any shoe I own. That shoebox is nicer than my HOUSE.

How could someone call A-chan a ゴリラ (Gorilla)? I hope there's another meaning I'm missing out, because there's no way someone could call her that and 0:09 is the ultimate proof of my point here. If something correlated to my question is obvious, please, be patient. I'm struggling to learn japanese.
@inoarcher9 жыл бұрын
Alessa Bergeois It's not intended to be an "insult", rather, when Asians refer to her face as "gorilla", it refers to the shape; if you look at her from her profile, the lower half of her face (cheekbones down) extends out further than the upper half, similar to the shape of a gorilla's head. In Asian culture, it is considered to be an unattractive trait even though it's very common. Most of the time, people don't care about that, they tend to look at appearance as what it is. When they point out that she has a gorilla face, they aren't saying it to insult her, rather it's just a trait they are pointing out (it's the people outside of Japan who tend to take it out of proportion and think if it as an insult).
@angsors_97949 жыл бұрын
Still offensive in my opinion... But it's japanese people being japanese people... *sigh*
@JoiskiMe9 жыл бұрын
Alessa Bergeois It's the same in Thailand. My classmates used to have nicknames according to their features such as "horseteeth", "fatty", "dumpling", "elephant" etc. But not to be mean (just light teasing). They're just looking at appearance as what it is, like inoarcher said.

Asian people tend to be...insensitive about things that people would find to be an insecurity (I can say this cuz I grew up in an Asian community). We have no problem pointing out someone's big nose, or someone who had gained weight, that's just how our culture is and something non-Asian people tend to not understand. It's not intended to be insulting, just brutal honesty.
@angsors_97949 жыл бұрын
So... It has turned out as stupid as I think it was. No surprises. No don't get me wrong, but there is a big difference between being super honest and being a super douchebag. I understand A-chan is a public person, so she is an easy target to "brutal honesty", I will take the point. Still, even for a half-french like me, who has a super troll french father, this sounds way too stupid.

Her name is pronounced Cash-Yuka and not "Ka-she-yuka" I've noticed.
