Anyone that go to live anywhere else except the country you are from will have ‘culture shock’ I did when I came to live in the US! got over it in about 2-3 years and I was a teenager back then. So it’s true every culture is different and it takes time to accept the little things

Concrete walls? They don’t use sheetrock? The shell is actually a good idea. The New Owner can buy the cabinets & light fixures is a good idea.

My Wife and I will be getting in contact with you soon through your website about moving to Merida Yucatan.
@nateswiss47083 ай бұрын
I don't think you should be so lighthearted and jokey about landlords not returning deposits in Merida. Even if nothing is wrong, they don't return deposits 90% of the time. Instead you should make people aware, which will allow them to make individual decisions about whether or not to pay those last 2 months of rent so they don't get cheated out of their hard earned money. Most landlords spend that deposit money immediately after you give it to them, and don't even have it in their banks to return it to the tenants at the end of the rental period. Also, if you have used an agent, the landlords use one of your deposits to pay the agent's commission, that alone shows one deposit is already gone off jump.

Agreed.I address this more in the most recent video i posted today

Can you put in the contract that the deposit will be returned if the property is returned exactly the way you received it?Take a video before and after.

Water intrusion is the biggest enemy of any structure. If you own the place I would always try and keep it maintained, it only gets more and more expensive to fix if you let it slide. If you rent maybe its not as important. It gets more interesting when you are dealing with community property, I guess you have to pay some monthly fees for a condo complex or privada? how high are those usually? Like to maintain pool, landscaping etc..?

Why didn't you get your double deposit back on your last apartment? That's a lot of money.
@MoveAbroadandThrive3 ай бұрын
Much of it I had to eat up ... One of my kids hung posters all over their wall and when they took it down, it peeled the paint off... Now obviously, painting ain't that expensive. Then we had this darn dog ... He ate up all the lawn furniture and it was expensive. We found a set that was very similar, but not exactly the same of course, and paid $500 bucks to buy it used... They didn't want it of course, so they took that out of the deposit and i took the set with me to my new home. There were some other minor wear and tear. Wasn't much of an issue for me to fight. All in all, she was a fair landlord ...I probably could of gotten a couple hundred bucks back if I itemized and requested receipts for the work done, but again, wasn't worth it. So this one was on me... Now that last landlord at the house prior, she got my butt... But i left her with the electric bill to help balance out the injustice... So i fared out well on that one.

If you’re a U.S. Citizen who pays taxes all your life in the US and you buy a house through BBVA Mexico at 9.5% and it’s your only home can you write off the interest on your Federal Taxes?

Yes, you can.

Man, if you've been watching Cartess' videos for a while and still get upset that there are gaps underneath the doors in these places, then I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that maybe Mexico ain't the country for you, lol 😂 When you go somewhere, you gotta assimilate and adopt their norms. In terms of renting, it sounds like you should just add the amount of "security deposit" you have to pay to the monthly rent when figuring out how much the place is going to cost you in total. If you go in understanding that, then you won't be all bent up when you move out and don't get any security deposit back. And I think part of the reason people don't get their security deposits back is that the landlords have already spent the money. They ain't setting your money aside in some separate interest-bearing bank account that they don't touch, like they do here in the US. They are using your security deposit to pay for day-to-day living expenses (or to buy new furniture for themselves, lol). And when you move out, they don't have it. Plain and simple.
