This guy didn't have to keep updating his game for 8 years, but he did. If you bought this game 8 years ago, this man served you for 8 years for like $10. Indie devs are so much better than big companies, besides the games are low budget. Peace and love

@@evi6199 I feel like Hello Games had a different motivation. They were promising so much, but delivered an absolute mess on release. They wanted to redeem themselves and holy hell, they did. Big time. ConcernedApe just seems like a nice guy doing all this because he has fun doing it and loves the community behind the game.

My marriage was built off of Stardew Valley. No joke. I had to get a new roommate during the pandemic. Low and behold the most beautiful woman Ive ever seen ended up becoming my roommate. She wanted to play Stardew Valley, so I lended her my PS4, then she invited me to start a farm with her and over the course of gameplay and just getting to know each other on deeper level we fell in love. Been together for 4 years. Married for 1. And we both attribute Stardew Valley to this. Thank you Eric Barone.

Might be time to shut off the video games if someone is that unstable. No single thing on this planet is supposed to make your life "worthwhile". The fact that you're here, when X-years ago you weren't, shows that you were given a gift so valuable that nobody with sense would squander it. You didn't create yourself, it's a sign of total failure on the intellectual and emotional levels if you ever decide to go through with something like that. Religiously, or "eVoLuTiOnArIlY", that would make one an objective failure in every sense. So the cure wouldn't be MORE retreating into "fun", it would be throwing that away, then subjecting yourself to something actually difficult and meaningful to the rest of the world for a change. But it's trendy to pretend your brain is perpetually infected with sadness while there's mountains of evidence eviscerating the subjective models we analyze psychology with, so putting your life on the line for a VIDEO GAME is somehow logical in our society.

As someone who feels unfulfilled in their career, this interview was incredibly inspiring. I hope one day to create a career out of the things I enjoy most in life like ConcernedApe. For every person successfully throwing everything away on a leap of faith, and succeeding, there are thousands now living under bridges. I'd recommend leaping with... tempered faith. Leap while young enough to be living at your parents' place, or when you have enough in your bank account that you can afford a few years of not getting anywhere. Or, do what most people do. Keep an unfulfilling, but not horrible, career. Then use that to fund the things that do give you fulfilment in your spare time. With luck, the leap of faith won't even be needed, you'll find yourself on the other side of the gorge as if by magic.

I went to Festival of the Seasons earlier this year where an orchestra played Stardew Valley songs. He showed up during the intermission and thanked the audience for playing his game. He's super chill and soooo nice.

My wife started playing this game with a friend a few weeks back. Every time i walked by i got more and more intrigued (huge Terraria fan) and it never felt like it would be something for me. Boy, was i wrong (luckily). I've bought this game on a rainy day with nothing really to play and i am so locked into this game. I played 40 hours in the past 4 days and can only think Stardew Valley. I even get up super early in the morning to get my fix before work. So much respect for this guy, must of taken huge amounts of time and discipline to make this game. It's true, we don't rave about the town and shop themes in Stardew. But the truth of it is, they are the building blocks of the game. They remain the same, day in and day out, season to season. They capture the essence of the valley, Pelican Town, and the people that inhabit it. And hearing them brings joy to my heart. It's like coming home.

Dude is so impressive. Made a game all by himself. So many people play it. I went out to a club and the girl on the cloak room was playing on her switch. These games aren't usually my thing, usually play titles from big creators like Skyrim and Halo. But this has been occupying my game time, it's so chill but fun, but there's an exciting time limit element to it as well, lots of quests, relationships, etc.. Such a well made game.

Just the answer of which game he preferred, ocarina or Majoras, tells you everything you need to know. He gave his answer but considered why others may prefer Majoras mask so not to polarise them or put them on the 'other side' . Personally, I prefer ocarina of time but am amazed at how quickly they got Majoras mask out too.

I just restarted playing this game again after buying and playing it years ago. It really holds up and it is astounding how good all the elements of the game are. From music to play to art design, it's amazing that this was all made by one person!

You can really tell that he loves what he’s doing, and I think that wouldn’t be the case if he had to rush through development. Take all the time you need, boss! We love you!
