Can's music was created through group improvisation. When they found something that worked for them, they would work it up into a song. Jaki Liebezeit ("Love time" what a great name for a drummer!) held it together with his almost metronome-like timekeeping. If you saw them in concert you may or may not recognise anything you heard.

Repetition and vibe are like the 2 biggest components of Krautrock as a genre. You either get it or you don't. This is one of my favorite songs of all time.

I haven't listened to a lot of Krautrock so I haven't had the opportunity to find the patterns and cornerstones of the genre. Thanks for letting me about that.

@@CriticalReactions Most krautrock is built around the 'Motorik' Beat. You hear a lot of it But they also go really experimental, and use alot of interesting techniques to get some of these sounds

It's so odd - I can't be sure I've heard "Future Days" before, but once again it surely does feel like I have. Can. What a fantastic layering of sounds here.

You should check out the song Garden by The Fall. Or any song by them. Like CAN they are in a leage of their own.

The most cohesive can song in my opinion is Bring me coffee or tea, but unfortunately it instadeletes your video if you include it due to copyright. Its my favorite song.

@@CriticalReactions Your video brought up some very good criticisms of can's music. They're my number 1 favorite band, but I do agree that their best songs are their ones that are the most concise and try to stick to one seamless take rather than stitching many together. (Spray, Father Cannot Yell, I'm So Green, Sing Swan Song are the ones I really enjoy), though they do have some very genius songs that have very unusual and drawn out structures. A lot of what makes Can so interesting is the fact that they're so scattered in influences. Two of them, the bassist/producer and the keyboardist were classically trained. When they talk about their influences, they talk about both Richard Wagner and the Velvet Underground. The drummer was a jazz musician who was sick and tired of the philosophy behind free jazz and wanted to make a statement about repetition. The guitarist and the vocalist were kind of outsiders who kept the experiments grounded in rock music.

I think you would loose your shit if you tried reviewing Halleluwah by them. It's just a repetitive groove all the way for 18 minutes. Lol. I like your reactions, I do like repetition in music I have realized by watching you. Fugazi, Refused, Sufjan Stevens, and now Can, they have been important in shaping my taste in music, and you can't stand the repetition in their music.
