What a douchy-elitist answer: How does it make sense to rate any given musical version of the song a 10? Wouldn't that depend on the actual cast in each musical? idk, man... I'm not saying this is a great version, but dude...

I donno why people are so negative about this. If I think about some of the more acclaimed life performances, I think that this version is better than most of the others..

Audrey Landers killed it for me. When I was a 13 year old boy, I couldn't enough of A Chorus Line a this number. I remember realizing that I loved Broadway and musical theatre and that is when this boy realize he was a little gay boy! My heart belongs to the Landers Sisters!

@magacubbe every single singer in this film, or in any film, Lips syncs. Its called "dubbing". They record them singing Post-Production, then when they film, they sing along with their recording. Then in editing, they put the music OVER the singers voice. They also use this in video clips. So yes, shes lip syncing....but thats her real voice
@lucas566514 жыл бұрын
One, she's suppose to sing like that. Two, the video didn't sync the audio properly, she is actually lip syncing well. And three, there was no written choreography for this scene, she was told to improvise.

I actually agree with her. It may just be the screen, but even when I first saw the video she did look a bit too thin. And I have many friends who are extremely thin just naturally. But there's no need to go off on someone who was simply stating an observation that they made. Why can't we all just be nice to each other?

Except they didn't, in the sense that they hired somebody who didn't understand the basic premise of the show. He was a good director of other things, but in interviews about ACL, he talked about it being a show about people trying to *break into* Broadway. The whole point of the show is that most of the people in there are _longtime_ Broadway ensemble members.

What's the matter with you people? Haha. The video obviously didn't synch properly - everyone in musicals lip-synchs on set songs that were recorded in the recording booth, if it was their voice or not. And secondly, I love her voice. It's nothing ground-breaking, but it's good enough. She's actually a very popular singer in Europe.
@jimjimmyjames5913 жыл бұрын
Excuse me?! They record a track for film because of retakes and editing. Maybe it's changed, but I worked on numerous Broadway shows and never saw an actor/actress who didn't do there own singing and acting and dancing in THAT moment every time.

the reason they record and lip sync is to save the actors voices. if you think thats a problem try to sing 8 shows a week while dancing and staying in character?? THAT is a challenge in itself just being on stage. but there is no actor out there who can physically do that

She does a good job here. But I remember the first time I saw this movie in the 80s. I was SO disappointed. I hated the new songs and somehow the entire things just fell flat. I couldn't understand how such a popular show could have translated into such a boring film.
