Alistair Sim and every actor in A Christmas Carol(1951) is outstanding no exception! An absolute supreme perfect masterpiece of entertainment!!!!! All others are trash!!! I have watched this over 500 times since 1963 as a young teen! All thanks to KZbin! Never tired of it!!!

I came into this earth in early 1980s . Present ,I had a bad week and the other day and whilst shopping in morrisons ,in the next isle I heard a child’s voice singing 12 days of Christmas🎄. She was singing loud and proud but just like an angel and the whole song. I don’t know why it broke my heart to hear that as shopping it just did !. Bless her . So innocent and a reminder to me the Scrooge we can become as we get older in life . As the angel and mother passed me I said your singing is beautiful , her mother said thank you and smiled , the angel just carried on singing , it did it make me happy and sad at the same time as I walked down the isle her voice got quieter. Bless that little angel 💯. Have a good life please 🙂 merry Christmas anybody reading this boring comment I wrote lol 🎅🏼⭐️🙏🏼

Certainly not a boring content. That sounds like a special moment that had quite an effect on you. Life can throw us challenges but sometimes,, to feel better, it just takes a moment like that to give you a lift. I'm in my 50s now and the world can make you cynical,, but finding little things like you describe - often unexpectedly- can really help you feel that the world can be a wonderful place as well. Look for those moments as they are there and what a difference they can make to us.

I was surprised by George C Scott as Scrooge. I first saw this version in the early 90s. Amazingly this was filmed in Britain but was not premiered on British television. It premiered on CBS at Christmas 1984, but for people in Britain, they had to go to the cinema to see it. It finally got its British television premiere on ITV on Christmas Eve 1989. I saw it a few years later, and was impressed with George C Scott. I thought an American portraying an Englishman would be wrong, but he was decent at it.

Thanks for this, much appreciated. I can remember the buzz around the filming in Shrewsbury. Some of the props were left hanging up on the Market Hall stalls into the evening after a day's shoot and it was possible to walk through the Market Hall and believe you were part of Victorian Shrewsbury in the fake snow. My sister, along with many friends doing drama at school, was co-opted into being background extras in the Market scenes too. I'm glad that Scrooge's grave in new St Chad's graveyard has been restored, I have several ancestors who where christened, married and buried there from the mid 1800s, the back garden of the family house on Claremont Hill backed onto the churchyard grounds, it was the family church for 60 years or so. I expect to be enjoying a few pints of beer in the Three Fishes over the Christmas break if all goes well.
