You can't get a long-living medium / big tree in a pot! The root ball would be too big for the pot. That's why they only had infant trees in pots at that garden centre 😉

When we get a real tree after Christmas we put things for the birds and squirrels in it and put it outside for them that way the tree gets more use

I work on a tree farm. Only the trees we sell are 12ft +. We have a large 80" wide spade truck for transplanting. Beautiful Austrian pines. I'd bring you one, but it might not make it in time for Christmas. Yours looks great! Cheers! 🇺🇸🎄🇬🇧

Sherpa's got a lot to say to the lady. On potted Christmas trees, they do grow, we bought one that eventually became too heavy to carry in 🙂. Our Husky took some convincing we hadn't bought it to save him from having to go out for 'wee walkies'. The tree does look good by the window 🎄

When I lived in San Diego, I would get a 4-5 foot potted tree for about $30. My coworker owned some acreage and was always happy to take them off my hands after the holiday. This looks great and takes me right back to those days, many years ago.

You underestimate little red. I moved once using a Fiat Panda, you would be surprised at how much you can squeeze in if you like puzzles. And a friend picked up two grown sheep using a similar sized car, not exactly legal, but there are no police where she lives.

Love the tree!!! Sherpa did a great job picking it out! The Sand Queen is right, though. Any type of container wide enough will do, even those left over aluminium containers from take out might do the trick for the tree. What you don't want is the pot itself on level with the floor because you might create humidity and mold on the carpeting albeit having the plastic under the pot. If the wrapping on the tree roots isn't mesh, you'll need to open and let it breathe. Add some more earth too and give it a nice 'feeding' so to speak.😉Oh! I can almost smell the pine! Enjoy the new addition to the family.....

We did the living potted fir tree a couple of years ago and had to start small too. What we did is especially as we knew we would be moving in a year or two instead of putting it in the ground we got a wooden barrel the nursery told us it would take a year or two to grow out of and planted it in that. Then then next year we brought what was now a larger tree back in for Christmas and did the same after that. After that year we moved but decided we now had room in the new house for a bigger tree, we transplanted to an e en larger wooden planter, this on with wheels to make moving it easier and have since had it a few more Christmases. It's now 10 ft tall and so after this year will probably be too tall for indoors and we plan to plant it in the front yard so we can decorate it next year as an outdoor tree. This year we bought a new starter tree so it would have a year of growth before becoming our new Christmas tree for next year

At least the nice lady gave you lots of pets-I got lost during the conversation but he looked like he wanted the tree he picked first. Maybe he thought the nice lady would come with it!
