See, here's why I love these audits. I, a Christian, would have a hard time being this decent and good while reviewing this church. No, that makes me sound horrible. What I mean is this: I have my proclivities and preferences and while I would respect the church community here, I would cringe too much at that pulpit.

So, I used to go a church that was considered a "hiphop" church. I was. a breakdancer and everyone was into dance or graffiti or rapping or something hip hop. It was in Orlando and actually closed down, massive bummer. But a sister church is in Miami. They used to do breakdance battles or bboy practices then give a sermon or do a bible study. If you're ever down there let me know.

7:26 lol ! Great insight. I am Jewish and was a Zen Buddhist and studying Lakota Spiritually. I was absolutely destroying my life in the " Hippie" scene. I heard "the Gospel" at a few pot festivals and to make a long story short. I had an Acts 9 experience. I was that confrontational guy. Great videos. Can I interview you? I would like to hear your opinions on so much. Would be fun. My email is posted on my KZbin channel. ( KZbin won't let me post it in the comments.) Or by FB messenger. Regardless, great content. ps...my church has a biker church but it's really just a cover for old white conservative retirees on overpriced Harley-Davidsons. ( I may have to repent for that comment but...)

In the past, our family spent a lot of the summer time in Southern California, and there were surfer churches. A couple dozen folks would meet on the beach on a Sunday morning, have a little service, and spend the rest of their glorious Sunday surfing together. 🏄

I want to push back a little on your point about Christians engaging with questioners about their beliefs. Sometimes it goes too far in the other direction. Speaking from my experience as a fellow churchgoing agnostic/atheist: I spoke to Anglican (episcopal) and Roman Catholic (my baptised faith) clergy when I was looking for a church to start attending in the city I now live in. When I said "I don't really believe in God", the Anglican priest just told me that he'd be happy to talk to me any time and that I'm always welcome to attend and participate in their services. The Roman Catholic priest tried to argue me back into believing. I attend the Anglican church now.

Hi, I'm Josh White's brother and Ruth and Jesse's uncle. And my wife is from Fayetteville. I've passed by this place but never been brave enough to enter. Years ago, I was managing a bar in Raleigh, NC and found a manuscript for a book one of the bartenders was writing about a "Fight Club" type church. Everyone rode motorcycles and the pastor would fight everyone. It sounded a lot like this place.

There actually is a jazz church in San Francisco. It’s quite offensively called an “”orthodox”” church dedicated to John Coltrane. As an African American I’m kind of sympathetic to its evangelical ‘orthodox’ roots but it really fails to be a Christian community more than a weekly jazz session.

Got to side with the pastor on not arguing. I did prison ministry and met some people who weren’t sincere and loved to argue. That wasn’t a good use of time. The difference between good soil and bad is night and day. Some people’s hearts just aren’t ready. I can’t really think of anyone who has been argued or debated into believing. Faith is more heart than head. That said, I’m all for tackling hard questions.
@masterofshadows89043 ай бұрын
Agreed. I was an atheist, then got into neo-paganism/witchcraft, then Satanism, then kinda an intermediary period, then when my heart was ready I received the gospel. No argument would have convinced me in any of those points in my life. Tackle the hard questions - but don't expect to argue someone into believing. It doesn't work and makes people more hostile.

You’re right Jared. The preacher misunderstood the parable. Jesus’ words are the seeds, and as His disciple I am merely called to faithfully scatter them. I cannot control the response of the heart to its message, nor am I being called by Jesus to be selective in where I attempt to scatter. If anything, this parable teaches me to be as liberal as possible in how I throw that seed. There is a warning from Jesus, but it is to those who hear His words. The word that falls on the good soil, is the heart which hears and believes in Jesus and the salvation He offers. The parable should really be called the parable of the soils, as it is more about warning those who listen to His words. Do they just hear, or hear and obey so as to live? I am praying for you Jared.

I have a mega church, Assembly of God background. Growing up, we were so involved. Chior, youth group, nursery work, music department, and any outreach program that was available. It led me down a road they call codependency. Deny yourself and follow. Just try to change that thinking after a lifetime. I resent the outlook on life I was raised with. I feel a connection to your point of view
@meggo3295 ай бұрын
Mega "churches" are akin to a cult. All they care about is getting your money and selling you bull. Theatrics, technopyrics music that doesn't belong in a church. I was raised Roman Catholic so that's how we view Mega "churches". Those ppl pretending to heal others on stage so fake and stealing their money and faith.
@Jeremyb20239 ай бұрын
Hey Jared, I appreciate your videos. I'm kinda curious as to why you became an atheist. I think the reason why the church is biker themed is somewhat to be an outreach to the biker types of people. On the one hand, I applaud their effort to reach such a distinct people group that may be somewhat looked down on or feared by others in society. On the other hand, I also feel that we must be careful not to make the church about catering to preferences. In the church, God wants to bring together all people groups and reconcile them to Himself. So, while I would prefer less themes catering to one people group or another, I can applaud their efforts to seek to reach others with the Gospel. As a whole, that is a wonderful thing. There is no perfection on this side of heaven.

If you have to go to a biker themed church your not there for God. They worship bikes to the point they built a church around it.

If conversing about Christianity causes you to lose your faith, you haven't learned enough of it all yet. If you can be taken away from it, you haven't learned enough yet, from enough sources. Thats my stance. If you find yourself shaken, keep searching and learning more. If you do it right, you will come back to knowing its true. My personal opinion.

The main reason they don't want people to talk to doubters is that the doubt spreads so easily. They rather inculcate the idea that those conversations aren't worth having. If you have doubts, you keep it to yourself because more than likely many others have doubts too.
@Queezbo9 ай бұрын
But I don't think that is what he was talking about. I think you misunderstood it misrepresented the preacher.
@LlywellynOBrien9 ай бұрын
I don't think this is a fair take on what the pastor meant. Also, you are making assumptions about people. I know plenty of Christians, including bikers oddly enough (on a different continent to this church) who don't think the way that you suggest.

I am not sure why this popped up on my feed, but I’m glad it did. Probably because I like both motorcycles and metal lol. I am not an atheist, I used to be a Christian, and it was driving me nuts, until I learned what the scriptures actually teach, that through Jesus Christ’s death for our sins, entombment and resurrection, all will eventually be saved from sin and death. That’s what Jesus dying for our sins means, He took away sins ability to condemn. Christians do not believe this, they believe Christs death makes it “possible” to be saved. That’s not good news (what the word gospel means). Good news is telling someone something has been accomplished on their behalf, and that is exactly what the true good news is. 1Tim 4:9-10: "Faithful is the saying and worthy of all welcome (for for this are we toiling and being reproached), that we rely on the living God, Who is the Saviour of all mankind, especially of believers." The living God is the Saviour of all mankind, especially (not exclusively) of believers. Believer’s are simply saved earlier than the rest. Anyway, Grace and Peace
@Spiritualwrestler4 ай бұрын
Oh friend, that passage doesn’t teach universalism but it does teach that the gospel extends to all people. The truth is, sinners such as ourselves do still need to repent and place our faith in Jesus and follow Him as disciples. Peace to you.
@ambassadorofconciliation4 ай бұрын
It most definitely does teach that God saves all mankind. To be a Saviour of all mankind, one has to actually save all mankind. This is exactly what God through Christ accomplished on the cross, and the results will become evident in Gods time, as He works out His eonian purpose. Explore the picture to the left if interested.
