I come from a TMA background and I'll tell you, a lot of it is predicated on a lot of fence sitting about whether what you're learning is for spiritual growth or fighting. I think this is technically true when you train, but still disingenuous, because people use it as an excuse for working in a way and on techniques that are not effective in fights. Also, that taichi application is nonsense. Try catching a real punch with both hands at the same time - you try it and see what happens. Absolute rubbish, which they'd know if they actually sparred. (Also, at 18:32, you can see the puncher start to throw himself before he's even grabbed)
