Finally a real piece of art. Rubens would laugh at the Warhol crap.

Considering that Warhol created his art in the era of electric current media: TV, photo, radio… Mass media and TV - radio electronic means of expression and communication. Considering all that, probably, Peter Paul Rubens would be also tempted to experiment with art in somewhat not 100% traditional ways… New times engender new ways of self expression. And, apparently, technological progress plays a big part in it…

Petr Frizen No. Rubens had an eye for beauty...even in the face of war, disease and poverty. Modern art is crap and has no redeeming qualities. Eckhart Tolle is correct when he says that our generation is leaving such uglieness called art behind for future generations. Modern art is like the garbage in the ocean we will leave behind--an emperor with no clothes.

jcudal32 I worked at the MFA in Boston. Its a great place to see quality vs crap. The contemporary wing is obvious crap as compared to thousands of years of historical beauty in the real art left behind. If some idiot in Manhattan says a piece of trash is worth a million dollars in the sheeole "contemplate," its rarity and value in our society. The red pill reality is that its CRAP. The artwork has no clothes.

When the child is being born, needless to say, there is no clothing on him / her… It takes times for the garments to be donned… Probably, you are correct. …Recently, I listened to quite an interesting lecture on the music of the 19th - 20th centuries… If one could only imagine how some of the musical pieces, which are considered to be the classical nowadays, were “treated” at the times of theirs premières… What kind of reviews they got. Of course, the Art of Leonardo is the etalon and the artistic center axis… But artists always look and dig for something new… Though, in certain mediums the canon of performance is very strict and obligatory…

Petr Frizen Perhaps those who call themselves artists should stop hiding in the, excuse of medium and focus on their skill fir leavjng sometbing exceptionally beautiful behind? Too many excuses for crap in the 20th and 21st century.

First if all, art is personal. Second, it doesnt require an art scholar to determine beauty. Most people know what beauty is and the advanced skill required to create it. They also know what vrap looks like. Art scholars can be full of themselves and buy into the position everyone in their field or social circle is taking. Beatiful...skillful works of art are obvious. So is crap, onviously promoted by those who think they know but don't. In one hundred years, future generations will be looking at the crap we call modern art and will be rolling their eyes and laughi g. There will be Remaissance of quality works of art that will come after us. Future generations will say that we lived in the second dark age if art...and the fashion...music...all leavin g behind crap in the early 21st century.
