After a fair amount of watching these videos as well as reading about others I finally managed to reproduce this (with different models). It's basically two-pass CNC, first an adaptive clearing with large bit to remove most of the material then a tapered ball end bit to finish. As Roger says, the final finish doesn't need to be sanded. I brought my carving to a local Woodcraft store and they were blown away. The only disadvantage is that the stepover for the finishing has to be about .1mm - .2mm which takes forever to carve. Thanks for visually documenting this, it was a lot easier to learn how to do it on my x-carve.

That was so satisfying to watch! Thanks to your previous video on what to look for when purchasing a Co2 laser, I was able to finally make an educated decision on what to buy that would best suit my current, as well as, future needs. I made sure to order the CW5000 chiller as well. I will only be engraving acrylic so for now so I went with the 100watt max and will switch up the tube if I get into actual cutting. It is a 900x600 so plenty of room to create some great pieces. My next purchase is going to be the cnc router like yours so I am making sure to pay attention to these videos as well. Thank you for putting out such informative videos. They have been an enormous help!!

Great video! A couple things came to mind while watching. Personally I’d rather predrill the screw holes on the guide blocks than hammer on the machines bed. The other thing was that it sounded like your spindle was still getting up to speed when it hit the material. Love the Timelapse! When you vacuum away the sawdust it’s magic!

Important question: I am a complete newbie to this. I bought a Longmill and have it 99% ready to go. I am at the step of setting up the touch plate. I'm instructed to insert a router bit and measure it to input this measurement into the software. I'm going to have a bit longer of a learning curve than some because I don't know a lot of the basics that boys are fortunate enough to learn through the years. I'm not put off by that but there are some basics I lack and will have to learn regarding the use of various tools, power tools, table saw etc...... As a female I've never had to use a router.....so my question is how many mm of router bit are supposed to extend below the collet? I expect this is a critical thing to be consistent with. Any tidbits are greatly appreciated

Hi Roger, That is beautiful work! I would like to ask a question that i haven't seen in the other comments. I hope I'm not out of line. How do you market your product? Are your products all custom made? The title to your video is How to make $5,000/week. Would you be willing to give some insight as to how you do it? I think it would be great if you made a video that explains how you do it. Thanks again for your great videos.

I have a follow-up inquiry (from someone who knows more about tech than woodworking). I have a project with finer details - a smaller human figure but with undercuts done on the accessory that give 5DOF. My project wi probably have three or more passes, the last being with the super-fine 1/32” carving bit. I think I can manage the basic print. The resulting model will need some finishing no matter how successful the initial carve is, as I want a very smooth finish that will be lacquered or more likely shellacked. So here’s my question: how do you apply a fine sanding to a wood sculpture with such intricate detail without sanding away features. Even by hand, this would be extremely difficult. I thought perhaps a Dremel tool with one of the sponge-like buffing bits. I was wondering if I could program the CNC to apply the buffing tool with the 5DOF attachment as a final pass, only a very rough pass where the tool essentially floats at the appropriate level above the wood surface so that that the buffing is applied “gently”. Perhaps there is a brush-like tool designed to apply various sanding levels. Forgetting about the automated or powered tools, if someone handed you a wood sculpture that had features roughly the size of those on day a Barbie doll and asked you to make the surface as smooth as possible, what approach might you consider? I imagine an ideal process would be a kind pressure spray of powdered abrasive - like a hyper-fine sand-blasting with variable pressure levels I can experiment with - some process that lets the abrasive be guided in a fluid way to the detailed surface. Thoughts?

Cool carving! Great music! I don't quite understand the title. $25,000 is an arbitrary number if you don't provide any additional information. In what time span was the money made? How much do you charge per piece? How do you decide how much to charge per piece? Where do you sell them? How are you advertising? So on and so forth.
