Thank you for another fun reaction, man! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D You hit the nails all pretty much on the head! The Children of Atom believe in 'Division', which is the idea that when an atom splits, new universes are formed. So they view atomic blasts as literal acts of creation and to die in a nuclear explosion and have your atoms 'divided' is the highest honour. Every atom in each of us contains a whole new universe each itself filled with infinite atoms. And I absolutely did use this as an analogue for modern political and religious movements sewing societal division to recruit people to their extremise ideas, science denialism and selective facts. 'Their society decided we were better off divided - and delightedly I'm inclined to agree' - Those before the bombs thought we were better off fighting each other. They had the right idea. We SHOULD be divided but we should *also* be **Divided**. Notice how both their holy book at the start AND the book the preacher mocks later on are academic textbooks? But they only like one and decry the other. They choose the facts that serve their narrative. In this case, they prefer the children's textbook over the one with thorough research. The facts they like work for them at surface level but don't you dare read any deeper and learn the truth. The CoA show up in different sects throughout the games, each with their own spin on their beliefs and their own rules and to an extent mythology. (Some hate ghouls, others worship them, for example.) So it was fun to have the freedom to pick and choose and create our own little sect that served the story I wanted to tell, without having to worry about messing with the established canon of any particular group. This one is DENSE so I won't go over every little thing but I will touch on some things you talked about that I can give you some context for! Hate to school you on your US history here! But Fat Man and Little Boy were the names of the bombs the US dropped on Japan, so the line was in reference to those! Though you're right, the nuke launcher in the game is also named 'The Fat Man' in reference to those bombs. (The ammo are just called 'mini-nukes'.) The 'fattest man to little boy' section is in reference to their belief that division seeds new universes. To use the phrase 'mortal shells' to refer to people is an expression about our fragility, we are but delicate, breakable things that will wither and die containing something more precious and beautiful within, the soul. So the whole thing is a double on being a 'mortal shell', a frail being, withering and dying but with the eternal soul within and also a literal 'mortal shell', each of us a living bomb (shell) containing infinite universes just waiting to explode from us. 'In every atom's light - convection - a warmth of welcome spreads to all' - Convection is the way by which atoms exchange heat energy, so that 'warmth of welcome spreading to all' is a double! A really fun but impossibly nerdy and niche one you missed is 'Einstein on the Beach' is actually an opera about Einstein discovering the theory behind the atom bomb. It was written by Phillip Glass. ('time to Phil your Glass'). I really just included this one for me and MatPat who introduced me to the musical haha. Only one person has ever clocked it so far! It's a wild watch because it's written entirely in numbers. Every lyric is people singing sequences of numbers to represent his theories. As for the incredible miniature work? I'm sorry to disappoint you, all CG! No miniatures here! The CG team did incredibly on this one, nailed my vision for it! The whole team really came together fort this one, so much work from so many people! Thank you for all of the love on the production as well as the music! If you check the description you'll see I basically maxed the character limit on the credits! A huge number of people played a part in it! Thanks again for the fun reaction! I always look forward to these! :)

A funny thing that doesn't immediately click about Stupes's character being a Ghoul is that... *Ghouls are immune to Radiation*. They're not only a pre-war Ghoul who's been around more than long enough to have actually known the truth behind the atomic bombs, but they're also preaching about the holiness of something that is specifically *not harmful to them, but harmful to those they're preaching to*.

'Living a half life' is also a double; when measuring radiation, the 'half-life' of a radioactive substance is how long it takes for roughly half of its atoms to have decayed. And while the 'winter' note is almost certainly a reference to their next song too, it's a reference to 'nuclear winter' as well.

@TheStupendium2 ай бұрын
Absolutely right! An earlier idea of the video was to give the character a pip-boy and have them bring it up to change their outfit, have the charisma boost come from clothing items, but it was too clunky to make work. The chems were a much easier narrative device to boost the character's charisma but we still wanted a clear visual progression too, so we opted to keep the costume changes. Just imagine they are pausing the game and swapping out their clothes in the inventory at the same time as taking the chems. :P

fun fact, the call and response at the beginning is mixing the bible and text from "this is not a place of honor", which is a proposed solution to long-term storage of nuclear waste. nuclear waste lasts tens of thousands of years on the low end, so how do you keep people away from something that will poison and kill them for that long? well, one suggestion was essentially a museum over the storage site that explains, in multiple long-lasting languages, what nuclear waste is. the proposed text opens with the lines the audience is repeating, "this place is a message and part of a system of messages, this is not a place of honor" etc. those proposals are wild by the way. they range from "bury it deep and don't mark it" to "make the surface a blighted hellscape for miles around so nobody goes digging".

The line about Eden's aftermath is referencing the Garden of Eden Creation Kit, or G.E.C.K., which was supposed to be put in every Vault, but Vault Tec did what it does best, lying, manipulating, and so on, so a significantly lower number of Vaults ever got their G.E.C.K. A G.E.C.K. has enough supplies to refertilize tainted soil, remove radiation from a water source, start farming plots, and generally return the land around a Vault to a state similar to before the bombs fell within a few years. Obviously, the Children of Atom are very much opposed to the idea of cleaning the land of radiation.

i was recently watching your older reactions so it just struck me how much you've improved since your original reactions to stupendium. the Shpeil ( comedy musician comedy music fan ect... and the one that ends in "its a crapshoot whatever your gonna get") and the lighting and filming.

I do love how the skeptic had their own little arc where she ended up just going along with the flow and still ended up like the rest of them, blown up. Downer ending but a very Fallout-esque one

She'd have got out ok if it hadn't blown up. Just needed a lot of Radaway. Though nuclear explosions don't always kill people and some might have got Ghoulified.
