One agitator than most people and doctors overlook is the evidence that having any sort of digestive issue can also bring on PVCs/PACs. I was diagnosed with GERD at a young age and after a few years I noticed that my ectopic beats only and I mean ONLY happen when I'm having reflux. There is a gut-heart connection and these ectopics are also very strongly connected to our vagus nerve. I wish this was talked about a bit more as the connection is very real and may also be a reason why so many others suffer from ectopics.

@jasonGlausWx I am experiencing PVCs when I eat and I have bouts of GERD!! Have you found any solutions that help with this phenomenon? I have researched the vagus nerve and found a couple of things to try and stimulate it. I also have cervical spine issues which can affect the vagus nerve. Thanks! I'm so silly, 4 years ago I used to have heart issues from drinking too much (withdrawal), vitamin deficiency, and anxiety on top of that made them worse. Didn't realize the connection, but I would legitimately thought I was dying. I went to the ER and they told me I had PVCs, did a blood test and told me to slow down on drinking. My doctor prescribed me a very low dose of Propranolol (blood pressure medication), magnesium, and potassium to help with withdrawals and the vitamin deficiency. I did absolutely that, stopped drinking and now my heart is great! Lesson of the day, if you're anything like me in the past... don't drink so much wine that when you're sober your heart starts freaking out 🥲

What are your thoughts on frequent PVC’s on someone who has cut out all triggers(for an extended period) and also has a clear echo? Would you still give beta blockers for the symptoms? Do further testing?
@gwheel35022 жыл бұрын
Wonder this as well, in essentially this exact scenario.
@eviedp18 ай бұрын
If by frequent you mean above about 15% of total beats as recorded on a long-term monitor, then they can sometimes do an EP study to find the source and do an ablation. But there are risks to ablation so it's not typically done for a benign condition. Otherwise they likely can't do anything except prescribe a beta blocker. A beta blocker doesn't actually stop them it just lowers your perception of them (the heart doesn't beat as hard so you don't FEEL that thump when it happens). And of course you have to sometimes deal with side effects from the beta blocker! Often all they can do is reassure you that they are typically benign, and you just have to try to ignore them. Easier said that done in my experience, when I feel each one of them! Make sure you visit with an electrophysiologist (rhythm doctor) since they are the specialists about electrical heart issues.

Mine fires up during exercise. Does go away if my heart rate is over 120bpm. It only got worse as I got older. Diet change and cardiologist test all proved no help. Benign is that they say and I have an otherwise, healthy heart. Which constitutes to not worry. But mine is very symptomatic . Fish flop and causes a feeling in center of my chests feeling like there's something that just stopped. I know the pvc and it's actions but not sure what's what's causing them. @louistournas1202 жыл бұрын
@@ih5927 Most likely you simply don't feel them when you are moving around. Also, usually the number of PVCs reduce when your heart beat is faster. This is because the Sinus node depolarizes the tissue and it does not give a chance for the ventricular cells to cause a PVC. If the number of PVCs goes up during exercise, I have read that it bad. It isn't the PVCs that are bad but it could mean that there is something else wrong with the heart. They need to measure with an ECG to see if the number of PVCs goes up with exercise. It is the only way to be sure.
