A Competent Box-Ticker: Hyundai Tucson 2018 First Drive

As SUVs have become so popular in the UK, the choice is close to overwhelming, so it could be tricky choosing the right one. Could this be for you though, the new Hyundai Tucson? I had a quick spin in on a few weeks back to see if it was any good, and if it worth your hard earned cash.
The model tested here is the 'Premium' trim level, which starts from £25,845, and is able to offer features such as 18" alloys, 8" touchscreen, navigation, DAB radio, Bluetooth, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, electronically adjustable front seats, heated front and outer rear seats, keyless entry, blind spot detection, wireless phone charging, KRELL audio system and rear cross traffic alert. Yeah, it's pretty well specced!
The model tested here is fitted with the 2.0 litre diesel, which has the assistance of a 48v mild hybrid system. Power is fed to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic.

is it worth spending the extra money on the MHEV model? The regular 2.0 d tucson consumes around 49 mpg as well, I don't see any difference in acceleration, or fuel consumption... sooo why should I choose the MHEV over the least prricy normal diesel?

In the UK, it's the only 2.0 litre diesel you can have; the other choice is a 1.6. Thanks for watching.

@@CarObsession I'm trying to decide between the 186 hp 2.0 diesel, or the one with the mild hybrid system version what you tested still 2.0 diesel 186 hp with a little boost. Did you feel any boost in the acceleration, or reduction in consumption?

I'm afraid I can't really say, as I've not tested the normal 2.0 litre diesel as it's not available in the UK, we only get the 2.0 litre diesel with the mild hybrid.

Hi Nodge X, thanks for watching. Yeah, this is not the most thrilling car in its segment, but it does the basics well and I think this would definitely make for a strong family SUV. The model tested here is a bit pricey, though.
