Whilst I have been to Abydos a couple of times, access to the Osirion wasn’t permitted, so it’s great to see such a detailed walkthrough! One theory is that the central island represents the primordial Island of Creation and the water surrounding it the Waters of Chaos -early Egyptian creation myths. The carved scenes are from either the Book of Amduat or Book of Gates, and what is being described as “boats’ are actually the Solar Barque of Ra-compare with the Royal Tombs at Luxor! Otherwise a very interesting video and grateful for finally ‘seeing’ what is there.

Hi Brien. Thank you again for your job. Looking at the tool marks in circular holes, it seems like the distance between patterns is greater than the distance we have today with the current technology. In other words, that distance gives us the idea of the pressure the tool applies on the stone on its way down. Greater distance reveals more advanced technology. Current tools show less than 1 mm between marks if I'm not wrong.

It's because the groundwater is damaging the carvings at a very high level. The presence of salt is, literally, destroying that passage everyday. Nothing to do with mistery or raw-finished. At its time, it had the same appearence as the Valley of the Kings tombs. In fact, that passage was decorated (at least) by the grandson of Sethy I, Merenptah. And it had the same symbolism as well. The same texts appear in the walls of Merenptah tomb (the books of Imiduat, Gates and so) and here. This was a symbolic tomb but containing all the structures of a real one for that same period.

What you say are saw marks on that lintel, do not appear to be saw marks. They appear to be the grain of that stone that has been eroded somewhat by water.
