My daughter has been using the Inreach since the mini, she has the 2 now. I wish she had considered changing her plan a week ago. She never thinks about this stuff. In Patagonia for a week with only this as her contact. We have been communicating and she has been checking weather. I suppose it is fine, for a week…glad she has it. She has essential plan.

She can change the subscription plan whenever she wants using the Messenger App, but she may need to be in cell service to do that. Let me know if you have any other questions. Rick

@ Thanks, she has completed her Patagonia backpacking and camping and leaves for Peru this weekend, where I expect she will remain mostly in cell range. We may just stick with the current plan through the last three weeks of her trip. Thanks for the tip. I won’t forget next time she goals aboard and off grid.

Is it possible to contact a tow truck with this device?

I'm not sure that the S.O.S. center would do that but it's something I'll ask. However, if you have your insurance company, police, or a tow truck companies phone and they can be messaged, then I don't see why not. That's the first time I have seen that question, and I'm glad you brought it up. I'll check into it. Rick
