*Goes to real life stock trading firm job interview* Interviewer: Tell me me about your experience trading in a financial market You: I've flipped trades and made millions in profit for over ten years Interviewer: Wow, you're quite young to be trading for that long. You: Yeah, before the market expansion it was challenging as it was mostly a barter system between trades. Sometimes people would have cash to trade with and other times they would trade with their shares. Interviewer: It looks like you've experienced a wide range of trading *15 mins later* Interviewer: Wow, I'm really impressed with your knowledge in stock trading and your understanding of the market. Tell me what trading firm did you work for and where is it located? You:....Yeah...it's....... called the Grand Exchange........... and it's located in Varrock *sweats*

Imo what I consider to be 'flipping' is buying something at the lower end of the margin and selling it at the higher end at the margin. When we're talking about stocking up on items and holding onto them because you expect them to rise over time, that would be called 'merching'.

Pro Tip for excel, if you have a formula in the cell instead of copying it if you click the cell you will see the small square on the bottom right corner, if you click it and drag it down it will copy that formula into all the cells you select and will change the cell numbers in the formula. Big time saver :) Great vid btw.

Just got into flipping as a way to keep my attention on OSRS when I don't actually have time to play. I've been working the f2p side and mainly looking at Skilling items that both f2p and members use, so far I'm getting a 17% ROI on 18,000 items at a time. (there's your hint 😅). I have around 19m currently, so I'll eventually move to higher priced items.

When using Google Sheets/Excel you don’t need to copy/paste functions down columns. Click a cell and then click and drag from the small box in the bottom right corner of the cell. This will auto-populate the contents of that cell (or patterns if you select multiple cells) to all the cells that you drag to.

Tip for the ROI: I’d do =ROUND(box1/box2*100, 2) Ofc, box1 and box2 are the boxes you want, like A1 or G5 or whatever. It rounds the number shown by 2 number spaces (you can replace 2 with 1 or whatever you’d like)

Can anyone explain to me how GE Tracker works? Like I get the concept of margin-checking in-game, but when GE Tracker grabs information and sees, for example, "a transaction was just made on a rune 2h for 37k," how does it know whether to incorporate this into the approximate "offer price" or the approximate "sell price"? How can it know if the transaction went through because someone tried to buy a 2h for 40k and was matched with someone selling for 37k (in which case I would consider this a "sell price" because it tells you what the highest unmatched sell price was) or because someone tried to sell a 2h for 30k and was matched with someone buying for 37k (I would consider this an "offer price"). It confuses the hell out of me because every transaction is both a buy and sell price depending on the point of view of the two people involved... Along the same lines, how am I supposed to interpret a negative margin on GE Tracker? How can the item be approximately sold for less than it is approximately bought at??

Undercutting is not good for the health of the economy. You can't compare it to real life market. OSRS's imadiate economy is closely porportional to the amount of players online, the time of the day, the day of the week, updates, bot farms banning, etc. As more people undercut, the prices are forced towards stability. The more the margin is close to 0, the more stable the price gets. In osrs, stability is reached more often during peak hours. Therefore, the market does not fluctuate with supply and demand, but rather with flippers peak hours. This has many down effects, like higher prices for people that live in a unpopular time zone, ridiculous high prices at night, unhealthy inflations of prices, etc. Even though I dont agree with the undercutting part, i enjoyed your video and it is a great guide for beginners (and kids) just getting into this crazy economy. Keep the vids up!

Your Argument is flawed. 1. Player activity is a supply in itself - and since player population fluctuates it determines that time zones price floor and ceiling in aggregate - this is totally normal and applied to real world stock exchanges....and pricing. 2. You definition of osrs stability is sloppy - I refer you to price floor/ ceiling above being dependent on player activity and time of day. 3. Price "instability" aka normal flux is an excellent thing, if you take advantage of it - this is the literal point to flipping. 4. "Undercutting" aka price changes are also excellent, it means the invisible hand theory of economics is being proven before your very eyes. Arguments like yours , if you took them to their structured conclusion ( no one undercuts; aka the price will never change from 10 gp a unit because all sellers sell at 10 gp!) is direct in support of price fixing which is the exact opposite of a healthy flux of supply and demand and as such is the very definition of an unhealthy market.

Ryan Guenette hey man I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now, but if not - undercutting is a term meaning to buy a few gp higher or selling a few gp lower in under to get your items to buy/sell faster than the competition. You’re undercutting the profit for a potential quick return. Hope that helps!
@RidoDrago
@RidoDrago 4 жыл бұрын
Lets say you want to flip an item of 10gp. Buying is 8gp and selling is 12gp. De margin is 4gp. You want to flip which means fast. So you want to buy the items for 9gp instead of 8gp (which everyone else does), so you buy the items instantly/faster. Then when selling, you sell them for 11gp instead of 12gp (which everyone else sells for) so you sell your items instantly/faster. Which means your profit drops from margin 4gp to 2gp but you get your money instantly/faster. You undercut the buy-in and sell-out. Hope this clears undercutting up.

Lemme see if I understand this correctly. Flipping is, essentially, buying from the lowest priced seller, then putting the same item in for a higher price, and hoping the trade volume is high enough that you eventually become the lowest offer as all the cheaper ones are bought out. This is the point that you move your merchandise over to someone else and cash in the difference. Did I miss anything?

@@thorn4564 no. I'm agreeing with Kyle's original comment. That under cutting the competition on a high volume, low margin item, in OSRS or in the real world is more trouble than worth, cutting everyone's profits down to the point it's not worth it. Grapes were 128 each at one point!?! I'm a legit noob, so of course I've got 15k grapes in the bank for 99 cooking. I bought them for 25 gp each. I can't believe they were ever that high in price.

I have a recommendation for more experienced flippers: Most ornament kits fluctuate between highs and lows weekly. For months now I’ve been buying them at their lows for a short term hold and selling at the highs and it almost always works out with an average of 10-30% ROI each time. Go check out the price histories! My favorite and most reliable is the tormented bracelet ornament kit. Good luck and happy flipping!

Its probably a but of both. Look at the trends of the item and try to steer away from ones going down. I also usually throw a handful of buys in after margin checks and then go off and do whatever else I need/want to get done in the game while they buy

My question is how long should you keep items in before giving up on the item?
@samadwork1598
@samadwork1598 5 жыл бұрын
All depends on the item and at what price you bought it. Doing over night flipps are a good start. Just buy and item and find out the margin by undercutting and then buy and sell the items over night.
