PSA: Many of the comments on this video are un-researched and should not be considered as the truth. The stars of the show are not legally allowed to work the counter anymore due to a Nevada law that prevents people to take photos with the stars and have random people in the background. When a show is going to be taped people are selected from the crowd to be in the background and they are instructed to not make a ruckus or look into the camera. All items on the show are researched before hand because if they were not it would be very boring show. I am very angry that so many people here are putting down a show with no real research.

tbh I'm just glad its a real pawn shop with things of actual historical significance for sale. yeah, its kind of a tourist trap, but its pretty clear in the show that they're in it for the money and the goofy little souvenirs obviously provide an enormous opportunity for profit.

I mean yeah, there's nothing wrong with wanting to make money. As long as they are transparent and don't scam. I hate it when people get mad at other people for making money. The thing I like is that that pawn shop started out just a pawn shop on the strip to attract gamblers. Placed on the strip and 24/7. It's honestly genius. Gamblers are adults and are responsible for their own actions. Then in the pilot you can see how Rick wanted to show the crazy shit people would take in exchange for gambling cash and thought it would make great TV. In my opinion, I wish that premise would still be around but it is what it is. Pawn Stars is the best example of the American Dream. Family owned business turned into a world famous business. They deserve everything they have

Thanks bud, I think the reason why so many people are disappointed with the location is they make it seem too large on the TV show. Also, given that the place is unbelievably crowded when you visit, it makes it seem that much smaller. I would love to be in there when there is very few people. It just might be delightful to be there. :)

Yeah, it's a must visit when in Vegas (if you're a fan of the show). They do make it look bigger on camera which makes people upset when visiting. I did enjoy the many items for sale that were on the show. Very neat place!

With the amount of fame pawn stars has no one should expect it to look like the tv,people should take the show more of skits than whats actually happens. They research get the info about the item and the experts are always ready in the back room. Some people might see this as a bad thing but it's a reality tv show if they didnt have any prep or acting it would be very boring

I’m not discrediting any known research behind the show. But in my opinion, I’m almost certain there’s two different pawn shops. You have one that’s a replicated sound stage meant for filming. Then you have the other that’s actually meant for public access.

There are two. from what I understand is that they built a “clone” on location and will pull customers to film the episodes. Thus why they never look at the cameras they are all instructed to act a certain way. At first it was different. A show this popular it was be impossible to film there seeing as its not a bug tourist attraction for people visiting vegas.

My friend went there on vacation in high school with his family and Chumlee was there. Given we are talking a solid 7 years ago. He had a broken arm at the time and Chumlee signed it. These days they all probably hide out when the show isn’t running.

Everyone here is so uninformed. Guy on KZbin who has been on the show explains how it works plus he took video with his watch when he was on the show. They film on a soundstage that is a replica of the store. They don't shut down the store and film in this location
