Kabir, the 15th century Indian Sufi mystic, was a common weaver who was married with children (a householder). He use to criticize the ascetic sadhus and renunciants of his time for acting holy. He spoke of the ability to be “connected” to the absolute with out the need to separate or denounce family life or interacting in society. Life is a spiritual practice. Family life and or work can be meditation.
