The Carnegie Endowment will host His Excellency Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s external affairs minister, in conversation with Carnegie’s President Mariano-Florentino (Tino) Cuéllar, on the future of U.S.-India relations. Serving as India’s external affairs minister since May 30, 2019, H.E. Dr. S. Jaishankar is a member of the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) of India’s Parliament from the state of Gujarat. Previously, he served as foreign secretary and as ambassador to United States, China, Singapore, and the Czech Republic.
India’s strategic importance is rising-both globally and in the making of U.S. foreign policy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2023 state visit to Washington and his recent bilateral meeting with President Biden showcase this relationship. Amidst fast-paced global developments, India’s bilateral ties with the United States have grown more extensive. The two countries have deepened partnerships in the Indo-Pacific, as well as on defense innovation and critical and emerging technologies.
What is India’s vision for global leadership? How can the United States and India bolster cooperation on issues ranging from artificial intelligence and biotechnology to democracy, security, and trade? And how can the two countries work together to bridge critical geopolitical divides?

H.E.Dr Jaishankar this time went to UNGA with all guns blazing.. it is so good to see the projection of Bharat's soft power as initiating a peace summit between Russia and Ukraine and also Bharat's hard power when it comes to securing the Indian Ocean region from the Houthi rebels. He also explained the true meaning of multilateralism multipolarity multivectorism . The explanation about Bharat's arrival on this global stage as the mouth of Global South shows our determination for multipolar World which is the need of an hour. As an Bhartiya I fully extend my support to my government. Jai Hind🇮🇳🇮🇳

I am a supporter of the current government of India, but I believe that critical analysis is essential. Based on my personal evaluation, India is not giving sufficient attention to the infrastructure of its cities. This issue must be addressed as many of our older cities lack aesthetic appeal. Western leftist media outlets, along with media from other Asian countries, often begin their broadcasts by highlighting India's underdeveloped infrastructure, which negatively impacts our global image. The Indian government has never prioritized "beautiful architecture," and it is crucial for India to rethink and rebuild its older cities from the ground up. This initiative should not be limited to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad; it needs to be implemented across every region of the country. Even the new smart cities, particularly in economically weaker states like Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, do not meet high-quality standards. While the government has a strong focus on foreign policy and economic growth, it seems reluctant to address the need for "beautiful infrastructure with appealing architecture"

Actually we are still not ready for it due to widespread poverty and lack of basic civic sense.But yes it is valid point , though Govt is trying very hard with Smart cities , cleanliness program etc .But old habits die hard
@infynvn
@infynvn 12 сағат бұрын
Basic civic sense naturally develops when you live in a clean, well-maintained, and beautiful country where every corner is spotless and designed with appealing architecture ,Psychologically speaking, people are less likely to litter in clean spaces, whereas dirty areas often become even messier. As I previously mentioned, the smart cities in economically weaker states like uttrakhand, jharkhand, chhattisgarh are of poor quality. Look at the newly constructed "Naya Raipur" (Nava Raipur new name) of chhattisgarh ,They’ve constructed the same old cramped buildings and houses and connected them to the internet, with the Prime Minister claiming they are world-class smart cities. However, in today’s world, everyone has access to the internet and can easily compare what modern cities should look like versus low-quality ones. Unfortunately, the architecture and quality in these areas are significantly lacking.

3 very good things done by Modi govts for past 10years: * Infra development * Digitization of economy and other govt agency * Removing NPA from bank. This is one of the important action done by Finance ministry. Successive Congress/UPA govt had increased NPA of the banks and they were on the brink of bankruptcy. Now, banks are profitable and are able to give credit 3 bad things: * Not giving importance to jobs and skill of population well into its 3rd term * BJP is considered as Hindu nationalist party. But they have not done anything for Hindus. Hindu temples are the only institutions that are taxed by the govt and intervened by the govt. This need to be removed immediately * Demonetisation, though a good policy but was implemented in a bad way. Black money is still in existence and more need to be done.

@@tirthachakrabarti5912 do you know the population of India and amount of young people graduating in India every month? Govt initiates simply did not match. PLI was a good initiative but companies increased production without employing sizeable employees (automation to make even lazily people understand) right now govt has introduced Job linked initiative and skill India which is step in right direction

The difference between india and china is that China kept quiet, built it's capabilities and economy in silence and did not brag about it...while India is the total opposite. India keeps on talking about being a superpower and brag about it's capabilities

It is imp. for India somewhat to showcase its power and strength bcz earlier Indians were struggling with inferiority complex in the western countries or around the globe before Modi's era. To give a message to the western countries' hypocrisy and double standards, it is imp. To show a mirror to all western media channels that always show India in a poor condition and doesn't dare to print any good story about us.

That’s only because you and I both consume content in English. Indians of an ilk tend to be fluent and voluble; they are thus seen and heard. You’d not have said that had you read literature pouring out of CCP. It has only one English language mouthpiece. The rest are in mandarin. Since I’ve read some of that I can tell you that Indians can be bombastic at times, but are overall accurate, especially the think-tank community.
