Thank you for this interview. Through Olga Tokarczuk, I met Jennifer Croft. It is no coincidence that these honorable ladies met in translations. Whenever I come across an interview with Jennifer Croft, I always have a similar impression after listening to it as after meetings with Olga Tokarczuk - wide knowledge and very modest self-presentation, which builds their authority anyway. From one work and interview to the next. Many thanks to Amelia Glaser, for her interesting questions!

You should ALL really read Books of Jacob. It is one of the greatest novels I have ever read. All is there, life, death, love, hate, men, women, religion, sex, philosophy, suffering and pleasure... Baroque encyclopedias, Jewish heresies, Polish Catholicism, theological debates, Ukrainian folklore, an old woman who left in a hidden cave cannot die and her ghost serves as the omniscient narrator seeing through space and time... A thousand page epic of life in all its forms and aspects.

At first I thought that 'bieguni' must have something to do with 'biegun' (pole, like North/South Pole)
