Even since i first heard Charley Pride Live @ Panther Hall ["IN PERSON"(RCA)] in 1969 with Lloyd Green on pedal steel, I have been a huge fan of his playing. Now, having had the immense pleasure of listening to Lloyd speaking so beautifully with Paul Franklin, and sharing so much about his own history, the history of the instrument, the music - what an incredible pleasure and resource this must be for everyone - but especially pedal steel players and fans. To hear two of the greats speaking with such reverence for the work, the music, the expression of emotions through music is simply priceless. I enjoyed these two hours more than I can possibly express. I went to iTunes and bought "Venus Moon" right away!!! Thanks to Lloyd and Paul for sharing this with all of us!!!

I had the Panther Hall album,a bunch of buddy's, a bunch of lloyds and I dabbled at steel for a few years in 1974. Lloyd and buddy were My absolute favorites. I remember searching hard for a Lynn Anderson album in the 1960s where Lloyd played on Rocky top, some of the fastest picking he ever did. He had such a fast right hand and blocking. Mr green,. I hope you'll do an extensive interview on the history of country music recording in the 1960s. You're One of the few that can tell that story. I was recently went to Nashville for the first time and went to studio b, I looked at the top of the owen Bradley quantsont hut, RCA A, The old Mercury studio. It was fascinating to think of all the music in history in that area. By the way, If anyone has a 1974 blonde single neck Sho-Bud With an Emmons Volume pedal Attached and a Emmons pick-up, Three pedals and 2 knee levers, Let me know.

I took lessons from Buddy Charleton in the middle seventies and though it was a fun hobby, I didn't have the drive like my high school mates Bruce Bouton and Bucky Baxter, who I bought my Sho-Bud Pro I from and dearly wish I'd hung onto. Good luck in your quest!@@robstewart5995

That was excellent, there's an obscure song by Gene MacLennan on his 1970 debut album called "Face In The Mirror" that Lloyd Green plays on that I really enjoy.

Two of the absolute masters of the steel guitar and it doesn't feel like false modesty in the least. At the top of their game and as humble as can be. I'm so glad Paul has done this rare interview with Lloyd Green.

Lloyd Green isn't just a great steel player, he is first and foremost a great musician. He understands and plays music on the highest level in a classical virtuoso sense. He is a true master of theory, technique, rhythm, the physical properties of his instrument, and all the other fundamentals that allow him to express him himself emotionally and artistically on the very highest plane. Only a few players get to that level.

I just want to offer a very minor correction…Lloyd Green isn’t just a great musician, he’s an even better human being.

These are pearls here, folks; you don't very often get to hear masters like these two discuss in detail how their minds work when it comes to this instrument and how they approach their work. Kudos to the people who posted this. Thanks.

Wonderful conversation and insights. In many ways I consider Lloyd Green to have that special tone and touch like Jerry Byrd had that originate from the heart and soul and then jumps out from the steel guitar.

Absolutely an awesome conversation/interview. Lloyd, and I are the same age, so I remember a lot of what he talks about, the birth, explosion of pedals, the deciding what to put where, the first Sho-Bud, etc. Very interesting and informative, thanks to Paul for putting this together.

As a matter of fact, I may sign up today! Paul is such a great talent PLUS he is a super nice guy! From what I can tell from the samples, this course is the next best thing to sitting with him in a room and learning..... actually it's better because you get more Information than you could ever get in 1 sit down with him PLUS you can go back and go over the topics as often as you need to master the material. I know it's a business thing, but in all reality, Paul didnt HAVE TO do the course..... but you can tell he has a real love for the PSG..... so much that he WANTS to share his knowledge with other players! I for one am very thankful for the chance to peel in Paul's brain!

Cincinnati Steel Guitar I got Paul's course and its honesty the best thing I could have done for myself. I still sound horrible but at least now I know what I'm doing wrong, before was just a guessing game. The c6th tuning is really what I'm looking to learn and the course has helped considerably in understanding both tunings.

Paul, Bobby Black is still alive and well, and living in Manteca, Calif. He played, as I'm sure you know with Barbra Mandrell also for a short stint. And, was a student of the steel guitar with the "at home" lessons the same as you took. I think it would be nice if you or someone interviewed him before he's gone also. Bobby has a lot of good stories to tell, when he played for asleep at the wheel, and a lot of the days when country rock was really popular. You know he played all the racing car effects on "Hot Rod Lincoln"?

"Thinking of a model name, Lloyd says, “I sat down with David and we came up with the LDG, instead of LLG, Green’s actual initials. “I told him, ‘Anytime in the future, tell them it stands for “David.” When they ask me I’m gonna tell ’em that stands for Dot.” Sho-Bud catalogs would bill it their “Lloyd Green” model with the LDG name." www.vintageguitar.com/3683/lloyd-green/
