At 9 minutes they state Sounds of Silence was written by Paul Simon in 1966. The electric was overdubbed on the original acoustic recording from the 1963 album "Wednesday Morning 3AM." It was barely noticed at that time but it was written in 1963 and released in 1963. They are recalling the 1966 hit of the overdubbed version.

Great frickin interview. Thanks for posting it up Sam, didn't know you had a YT channel , I lived in SF in the modern days 2005-2010 and the magic that had started with the Beat Generation, and the Neal Cassidys, and the Sam Cutlers had a tarp tossed over it the day Altamont occurred. However to the credit of the Stones, the Dead, and others, they learned that they had been taken advantage of by forces they didn't have control over, i.e. the mafia vs the hippies, power trippers, and the caccaphonie of blunder and blunder, you all's made it to today. The thing should have been cancelled as soon as Golden Gate Park cancelled., Then Sears Point may have been able to pull it off, but Altamont is the home base of Tweekerville, it sits next to a weapons testing facility, and should have been canned the moment Golden Gate was shuttered OR when it was inadvertantly said over the radio that this event was occuring . It was supposed to be for the locals on the west coast and the City of San Francisco not the whole gosh darn country. You did the best you could given the circumstances. A man's man. Thank you for working with the Dead after that. They play better music. Not better people because most people if not criminal minded are the same, the music coming out of the Dead was the Crown and Heart Chakra, and the Stones are the Root Chakra. It takes all kinds. God Bless ya.

The Beat Generation I can't imagine a more boring, grimy crew of losers in history, except maybe the Nixon White House.
@bgreen3670

@@davisworth5114 Well I can't agree with you there, except I think the Biden White House has way more losers than Nixon ever did. By a longshot. Nixon was not trying to destroy a country, unfortunately Biden is, and he's doing a dang good job, him behind that tiny toy desk they built for him at the make believe White House. All losers, degenerates, pedo.s, and crack smokers.
@bgreen3670
@bgreen3670 2 жыл бұрын
The Biden Administration makes Nixon Administration look like Mother Theresa. They are thugs, criminals, pedophiles(look at all the footage of Joe sniffing and clinging onto young girls on stage, and the girls just want to be anywhere but next to him) Hes a creep, his son's a creep and a crack head, Joe's brother is a corrupt individual who though they were all going to get busted once the laptop was found and Bobalinski came forward. But the media blacked the story out. They are creeps too. They are all sleeping together and are all swingers with each other as far as I'm concerned. And they are all kid abusers that have dirt on each other. That's why the damage continues: because the Blackmail. None of these.pussies have a spine amongst the lot of them to take responsibility for their actions to end the charade. They would rather ruin the country and the world instead of accepting guilt. Guilt of the highest of crimes. Crimes against humanity and crimes against children. And it ends as soon as ONE person grows a backbone and goes to the DOJ with hard evidence and the media at the same.time with a team of people that won't be ignored. Melinda Gates would be a good start. She divorced Bill because of Jeffery Epstein. She has the goods one both of them and how they teamed up to help start the pandemic. She has somewhat of a conscious unless it is a farce to protect the money. She knows what he did. And she knows she might be found an accessory before and after the fact. Epstein was into vaccines. He was into bio weaponry. She knew this. God always reveals the truth. Whether through karma, or in ways we don't understand. The truth always comes out. It's why they have to keep the lie going and the lie has been going for decades and decades and eons. Good people know they can't lie because God reveals their lies, even white lies in short order. So be honest with the people you love and care for. It's the right thing to do. You only hurt those you lie too. And these people do not care about us. It's why they lie every minute of every day. Evil.

Great interview. I was a big fan of Alex Kroner. But never knew Mick, Elton and Charlie were in his original group. But in all hindsight Altamont should not have happened. It was an impossible sight to have the concert. Because of the violence and stabbing death of a man, It’s still referred to as, “The Day the Music Died”...! After GG Park was not available, the concert should have been postponed. Perfect excuse to hold off ...! Simple out for The Stones. Forget about the feedback. It would pass and be forgotten. But, unfortunately Altamont lives on forever.

Purple Hearts was a drug that was taken a lot in England in the 60’s as well. Mainly by the Mods I believe. Dexedrine as well. Yellow pills. Both Speed type drugs. Dexy’s were pharmaceutical speed I think. Obviously Hash and LSD was a big thing, especially in the late 60’s with the hippy scene.

Come on Sam... Altamont would not have happened if Mick wouldn't have opened his fat mouth and announced a free concert in San Francisco well in advance of the show date. Rock was pretty clear about how San Francisco bands did free shows. The announcement would have been made with in a day of the show, not weeks before, especially for the Rolling Stones. They had the park all sown up until Mick screwed the pooch.... then the Stones bailed on Sears Point over business, and Altamont followed. Granted, no one person or event is truly responsible, but Rock took a lot of heat for that shit, while the Stone's were all, "oh we were just going along with what were told". They were like innocent kids playing in the world of the Grateful Dead.

Maybe if my favorite band, the Grateful Dead, didn't leave, I think it would've calmed don't the Angels a bit, the Angels loooove the Dead, shit in the 70s, JGB was playing for the Angels, there's a video on KZbin of an Angels wedding and JGB is the reception band, what sparked them at this moment to act like this, the Angels just don't do this, they had to have been provoked...

MUSIC for FREE ended in a parking lot Oct 1970 when J Garcia opened the large cast iron door in the back/side of the Capitol theater when my friend and I (15) asked them for a ride to a local train station in W Plains NY. He put his hand on my young shoulder condesendingly and said, Kid I'm just too stoned." F them. Never saw them again except once at the Mahattan Ctr, skull and roses show, 1971
