If I had arrived here 15 years ago, I would have landed in Serbia, but today I am in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo - Europe's youngest state. And from here I am heading down south to Kosovo's second largest city and supposedly most beautiful, Prizren.
The Republic of Kosovo declared its independence on 17 February 2008, but it has never been recognised by Serbia, which still regards it as a rebellious autonomous region. Tensions of greater or lesser magnitude between Serbs and Albanians arise all the time, especially in the border area. The relative peace is watched over by a special UN mission with the help of NATO forces.
I have always wondered what it is really like here, what this new country looks like from the inside? It's time to find out.
Meet my good friend Kris, who accompanied me on the trip this time and was not afraid to appear in front of the camera :)
This episode of Prizren is the first part of the trip, then we will visit the capital, a city of Pristina.
