I new fish are so pretty! The outside of your house is coming along great. I can't believe the color change. I have a tip for you if you don't mind. The algae in the pond will come back because the water is exposed to light but if you plant some pond lilly pads they will help provide shade and cover for the fish from birds. Love seeing you back in the house and I'm really looking forward to seeing the cabins again ❤

Small idea for the pond and keeping the fish alive. Maybe add some pieces of driftwood or something weighted down to the bottom of the pond to give them more places to hide or seek shelter from predators. That way they have a higher chance of survival.
@90McPhee6 ай бұрын
Good thought. I've seen people build super simple hides by placing two skinny rocks some distance apart, then laying a flat rock over the top. If the flat rock peeks up over the surface, it makes a sunning spot for turtles, but of not, it makes a nice place for the fish to tuck under either way.

The whites of MY eyes were so thickened and red n itchy I could barely drive down the road aways to the pharmacy to get eye wash/ drops etc! Nasty lil critters!

put caves/ hideaways and aquatic plants in the pond so the fish can hide and aren't as exposed or visible to predators. Also, fun fact about those invasive lady beetles, they were brought from Asia as an aphid control solution (because the native lady bugs eat aphids) but it turns out the asian varieties don't actually eat aphids like their American lookalikes, so not only are they doing nothing for farmers to control pests, but they've become a serious pest themselves.

Hannah regarding the camera and focus. There are tools built in to most devices to help you determine what is in focus. Hope this will help :) Focus peaking, is the most common one. It will show you areas of high local contrast. Which basically only can exist when stuff is in focus. Punch in magnification is also common. One usually find it in the camera menus then use the joystick to move around were in the image you punch in. There is a technic called Hyperfocal distance, which can be used for getting stuff in focus. It depends on what camera and lens you are using. Let's say that you using an Sony ZV-E1 and a 24mm lens, If you put the lens to f/16 and focus on object 4 feet in front. Everything from 2 feet to infinity will be in focus. There are tables and calculators on the web for different camera sensor sizes and focal lengths.

If you can find a little water fountain that pumps water from the bottom of the pond, you could create a mini upwelling system that is used in lakes to keep mixing the water column. It helps prevent stratification, deoxygenation and helps cycle the nutrients. Mostly for you, it could help prevent algal growth from taking over! Algae is good in small amounts, but mixing the water and shading the pond a bit can help prevent them from dominating :)
