A Creative Impact: The Stanley Park Earthen Architecture Project

Over 200 volunteers built a demonstration cob house (clay, sand and straw) in Stanley Park in Vancouver BC, while for the first time ever, seismic testing of a cob structure was happening at the Earthquake Research Lab at University of British Columbia.

You need to reinforce your construction to pass the earthquake test. Peruvians has more experience and have developed more rules about it. Here in Chile, after the 8.8 earthquake i remember that many structures like that collapsed. There is a church that was restored by adding iron meshes in the walls, linked with each other very tight like making a sandwich. Then it all were covered with earth on the top, getting the same old appearance. Good luck with the project!
