It's not subtle and that's what I like, instead of it being a boring rectangle with some weeb engraving it actually draws design language inspiration from the anime. Only other example I can think of is the Beta60 which had a bit of Evangelion design language

OMG Lain! The cult classic from the 4:3 era. Also split backspace, split right shift, split left shift, 6.25u bottom row. This is my preferred layout! Why can't every hotswap PCB support all thes options...

Love the Ralph McQuarrie concept art deskmat. This was one of my favorite designs. Still have all the prints in my basements which I once had hung around my office. Will definitely hang them again once I have my own seperate office space again!

Just wanted to warn you, Serial Experiments Lain is... not for everyone. it's one of those shows that is highly praised by a very vocal minority. It's one of those pre-2000s anime when there was no standard way to tell a story; for people that find enjoyment in deciphering how the director put their thoughts into an animation. I am not one of those people. If you can enjoy the show I commend you, but if you're just looking for a fun show to watch then Lain will be like walking into an abstract art museum with the lights off and no exhibition labels.

Lain is extremely bizzare but it’s not that hard to understand, more of the subtleties can go unnoticed but that’s a lot of shows. it’s just really well executed I’d highly recommend too. Another thing is that this show touches on very sensitive topics such as suicide and can get unnerving and uncomfortable to watch so just understand before watching it.
