Let's take a hike along the Withlacoochee River where we can discover some amazing Cypress trees, beautiful nature and wildlife as well. This area is part of the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve where the river flows out from for many miles out onto the Gulf of Mexico. The preserve covers four counties and is a vital to Florida's ecosystem, wildlife corridor and natural habitats. It's nice to explore these wild spaces along the river and seeing the wildlife as well is always a treat. You can hike parts of the Florida Trail or follow the many miles of multi-use trails, old logging trams or just follow the banks of the river when the water is low. Along the way some of the trees have fallen from the past hurricanes we've had but many of the Cypress trees have stood strong. You can truly see the power and beauty of nature out here. If you look closely at the trees you can see the waterlines that were created when the river levels rose to historic levels. Enjoy the adventure and thank you!
