Out and about Walking

Күн бұрын

So, today we are out and about walking in the Cotswold village and parish of Hampnett. The village is located in the County of Gloucestershire, England. The Cotswold market town of Northleach is just 1 mile (1.6 km) away from Hampnett.
The church in the village is dedicated to Saint George. It is of Norman origins and built in the 12th century. The church was previously dedicated to Saint Matthew up until around 1740. The church is Grade I listed.
This might be the first gated village that we have seen whilst out on our walks. Springs are seen the village which are known to form the River Leach.
The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 under the name Hantone.
This walk was filmed the day after the rainy Compton Abdale walk and as what I believe to be a result of this, the camera lens starting fogging up on in the inside. It did not happen straight away on this walk but gradually as the walk progressed (probably as exiting the church it started to show). It was far worse in the original video than depicted here. To try and mitigate this somewhat I used a polarised effect in post production to reduce the effect of the fogging - it took over 70 hrs to export this video because of the 3rd party plugin used to reduce the fogging but on the flip side it really brought out the contrast in the sky. Hopefully it won't spoil your viewing pleasure especially as...well...dare I say it but this might just be on the of the most stunning walks so far in the heart of the Cotswolds on this channel.
Thanks for walking with me.

Wonderful! I can't believe how many weeping willow trees you have! I have only seen one here in the United States and I'm now 65. That was the one in my Grandparents yard. I have fond memories of that tree, playing under it as a child with my siblings and cousins. They get so huge and I use to love the long vines that reached all the way to the ground. One of the first videos of yours I saw one in the center of a road. But I'm just flooded that they are in so many videos! There in yards, parks along the road. You probably take them for granted. I truly miss that tree. After my Grandparents passed away, the house was sold and the new owner turned the house into a gift shop and they cut down the tree 😢

Hi, Eunice. Lovely to hear from you. There is something quite special & magical about a Willow Tree, and when stood under one, it kind of makes one feel enshrouded & protected by it. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful memory from your childhood. It’s just a thought but if you have a big enough yard and it is practical to do so, could you plant a Willow in it in memory of your Grandparents? To be perfectly honest I don’t take any tree for granted anymore, these walks have really opened my eyes up to just how important trees are and in so many different ways. Have a good evening. OAAW

At the risk of perhaps one day having to retract my words if an even more exquisite video comes out, I must say that this walk is my favorite yet, out of all that I have seen! Beautiful scenery, the sound of water, seeing the world at sunrise, the sound of the breeze in the trees, bird calls- it would be hard to improve upon this. I definitely wished that I could step into my iPhone and experience this one personally! It’s too bad that moisture caused you some filming woes, but it did not spoil this lovely video, and you are to be commended and thanked for putting in so much work (70 hours- Wow!) just to prepare and present this particular walk. Your efforts were appreciated by your viewers all over the world. : )

You must be getting kind of bored of me remarking on the amazing colours of your videos. But this one is so beautiful that it knocked me sideways... Don't ask me why we get knocked sideways. It's one of those idioms whose origin has always evaded me. Anyway... Sideways I was knocked. The opener is perfectly positioned to make us want to keep watching and that misting brings about a real painterly quality. Quite incredible. I remain in awe of the beauty of your walks. Thank you for posting.

Evening Jago. Hope you have had a good day. I don’t think I will ever get board of you remarking on the colours of the videos :). I think this one in particular probably stands out due to the polarising effect really making the contrast in the sky pop. I thought about putting a polariser on the lens but the trouble is can reduce the exposure by 2 - 3 stops, which is not ideal for when filming before sunrise as I often do. I really am thankful for your continued support, which means so much to me. All the best to you & hope to speak to you again soon.

Stunning skies, OAAW. I wonder what's causing the lens to fog up so bad. Could it be faulty seals? Have you tried taking the unit to be serviced by DJI technicians? The diffuse glow which begins towards the end of the church footage adds a dreamlike quality to this walk. Thank you for sharing
@OutandaboutWalking
@OutandaboutWalking 10 ай бұрын
Thanks, Michael. I think the lens can't be sealed correctly for it to be fogging up on the inside like it was, however the camera did get wet the day before on the Compton rain walk and DJI do state that these cameras are not waterproof. No plans to send in for repair due to the amount of time I would be without it (I couldn't face going back to using the P2 even for a short while), however I do plan on purchasing a second unit of this camera (will keep this dodgy one for rainy days only:)). Enjoy the rest of your day and thanks again. OAAW

@@OutandaboutWalking Perhaps you could bury it in rice (or any other dessicant) to get rid of excess moisture inside the unit. A moisture controlled cabinet for cameras and lenses also works. What strikes me as odd is that in the beginning of the walk, it wasn't foggy to the same degree.
@OutandaboutWalking
@OutandaboutWalking 10 ай бұрын
@michaeltichael I sealed the camera up in a bag the with Silca Gels the other day (Tip from Hellie), left it for 24 hrs, so far so good. Maybe the fogging is due to a variation in temperature but not sure. All the best.
