So, today we are out and about walking in the Cotswold village and parish of Hampnett. The village is located in the County of Gloucestershire, England. The Cotswold market town of Northleach is just 1 mile (1.6 km) away from Hampnett.
The church in the village is dedicated to Saint George. It is of Norman origins and built in the 12th century. The church was previously dedicated to Saint Matthew up until around 1740. The church is Grade I listed.
This might be the first gated village that we have seen whilst out on our walks. Springs are seen the village which are known to form the River Leach.
The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 under the name Hantone.
This walk was filmed the day after the rainy Compton Abdale walk and as what I believe to be a result of this, the camera lens starting fogging up on in the inside. It did not happen straight away on this walk but gradually as the walk progressed (probably as exiting the church it started to show). It was far worse in the original video than depicted here. To try and mitigate this somewhat I used a polarised effect in post production to reduce the effect of the fogging - it took over 70 hrs to export this video because of the 3rd party plugin used to reduce the fogging but on the flip side it really brought out the contrast in the sky. Hopefully it won't spoil your viewing pleasure especially as...well...dare I say it but this might just be on the of the most stunning walks so far in the heart of the Cotswolds on this channel.
Thanks for walking with me.
