Beautiful sunrise. Awesome video. Empire service goes to Penn Station, not GCT. OH NVM. Sure is a business section of track.

It brings back memories from the times I would be with my dad at that same station watching Conrail and Amtrak trains go through there in the early 90s. A susquehanna line also passed by the station just on the other side of the four track main line from the station

Bison Yard isn't the only NS yard in the area... There's SK Yard, Babcock Yard (just 2 tracks), Buffalo Junction Yard (used only for storage and shops now), and Tifft Yard. Anyway, nice video. That NS train was 316

Bessemer & Lake Erie 902 You're welcome! NS also directly interchanges with B&P at Buffalo Creek Yard, CSX's Frontier Yard, and the CN in Fort Erie

I used to love Babcock, lots of interesting foreign power would rest up there, quite often Suzy-Q power. Babcock was the last place I saw an operational (non-museum) Alco with the original prime mover.

+Doug Evans Nice! At least the WNY&P railroad still uses them. I’ve got to get there soon

I was there yesterday (visiting buffalo this week). Might stop back again later this week. What is that track about 2 blocks over from the Amtrak station and where is good viewing area? Ty!
@BessemerLakeErie9026 жыл бұрын
+PM08203 I assume you mean the track under the signals, right? I believe it’s a yard lead and I didn’t see anything on it during my visit. Depew, the place where most of this was filmed, is a great spot with vending machines and restrooms. There are also good shots along broadway street at the East end of Fronteir yard. The international bridge is also a cool place to hang out. A few CN & CP trains utilize this bridge to cross into America. I never made it there but it is nice. Other then that, exchange street station is also nice spot to view Empire Service trains, though most run through the night with 284 and 281 being about the only daylight ones. If you want to get CSX trains at speed, Lake Avenue (featured in this video) is a great spot. There is ample parking and is the last crossing that allows train horns until Derby New York (going West). Lake view has a few good shots but don’t expect any train horns since all crossings within the 7 mile range with the exception of the NS North Creek Road crossing are silent zones. Other then that, there are other good shots along the lake shore. The Lake Shore Railway Museum is another great place to watch trains if you decide to venture West. Let me know if you want any more places West of Buffalo and I had a couple of friends as guides for this trip. I will paste one of their links in the description if I don’t know the answer so you can ask more questions as they may know more then me.
