I really appreciate all your videos about subbing. ❤❤❤ you’re awesome. I have a question: If it’s lunch time, do you let the kids go by themselves? Or you go with them ?Or they know where to go already?

Aww thank you! 😊 I usually walk them to the cafeteria and have them line up & once I see a cafeteria staff outside, I take my lunch.

Very useful videos about subbing.Thank you very much! I have few questions: Each class will have at least 20 students. Will all the students be able to complete each task given in the sub plan within the timeline ? How did you take up sub jobs? Is it online or phone call? If it’s recess time, do you drop students off and bring them back to the classroom?

Hello, Usually yes, all assigned work tends to be completed for the day. There are times when teachers provide us extra work in case the students finish early or need something to keep them busy. I’d recommended leaving the teacher a note on what was able to be completed and what wasn’t. For my district we use an app to pick up assignments, it’s much easier than waiting on phone calls for available assignments. Yes for recess, I take them to the playground and pick them up when the bell rings.

Thanks for the reply. I am planning to be a sub, kind of nervous to take up the assignment. Any tips for first day of subbing. I really appreciate it. When you pick up students from Recess, how do you make sure that no student is missing. I am not a technology person, so I am concerned about classroom technology Any advice or recommendations. Thanks for your time.

@@nir_22 I'd say start of subbing with the grade levels you feel more comfortable with, once you feel like you have enough experience you can start subbing other grade levels too. Another tip is to not be afraid to ask for help when you're at the schools. Usually all schools are very grateful to have subs coming in and are more than happy to help especially if it's your first time at their school.

@@nir_22 For recess, when I pick them up from their line I like to count how many students are in line while I am ensuring that they are lined up straight and quiet before we head back to class. If I notice that 1-2 students are missing I take the students that are in line to the classroom and wait about 3-7 min and see if the missing students are back. If they aren't back then I call the office.

Hello .. Does your district provide you with with a laptop or do you use your own?
@jayxtea_3 ай бұрын
Hi! 😊 No the district does not provide me with a laptop, we just used the teachers desktop computers. But they provide us with a login to be able to use the computers 😊

What district are you subbing for? Orrr what state are you located? I’m looking to *possibly* sub when I come back to the US,

I live in CA, so I am subbing for two of my city’s district. I’d recommended subbing for more than 1 district to get more experience & see which districts and schools you like.

How much is the salary of subbing?
@jayxtea_2 ай бұрын
It all depends on your schools district, I sub two districts and one pays $180 while the other pays $250.

I retired and now sub. Very strange how some states/districts are so vastly different in sub pay. One district I subbed for last year paid $105 for degreed and it goes down from there depending on qualifications. Decided this year would only sub in the district I live in. It pays $115 for degreed( $10 more if you sub in a SPED classroom) Most of the schools I sub everything is done on their chromebooks to eliminate worksheets (2nd on up) which I like to sub 3rd-5th because they are more independent.
