those metal things on the ground are for 3 things. 1. so you don't fall down the stairs when it is wet. 2. help blind people. 3 skate stopers. as they put them on small gutter on street crossings.

Yea i used to install these at pedestrian crossings, the also guide the blind across the road, they feel them with their sight sticks and lines them up to cross the road in a straight line to the other side 👍
