Hello Beca! I now this is a quite late comment but I just found out your video. i was wondering whether you find it tiring, sometimes, to read books for work and not for pleasure. Don't you miss just to choose any book that you like and read? I am going to study a Master in Publishing and this is one of my biggest fears.

@blazerbeck Hi Becca, I was wondering if you have any advice for someone who has recently graduated from university in English and Comparative Literature and would like to gain some experience in publishing. It has been a case of catch-22 for me, as publishers desire the candidate to have previous experience but this experience is very hard to come by. What ways can I gain experience and what skills do publishers look for in an Editorial Assistant?

Hey Selina! I would definitely recommend that you try and find some 1 or 2 week internships at publishing companies. They will usually be unpaid, but will refund your travel costs. This way you'll get a really good idea of what skills you might need to work on and it's also a great way of meeting people in the industry. Good luck!

Hi Becca! Do you plan on working in the industry for a long time or furthering your education? I feel like a lot of people straight out of university do publishing for a bit + then plan on getting masters or PhDs in other areas.
