I am a big brother, as an engineer I have realized there are many kids who need an adult as a role model.

I'm currently with my big brother and out of the 52 weeks in a year he's here for 18 and he's supposed to be here every week but he cant come because he's at work or sick or goes to the superbowl or wants to party. They make you wait a year for them to barely even come. We got tickets to see Ottawa senators, couldn't go he was busy, and we had the chance to see the Harlem globetrotters play and meet them as well...He was also busy. I want to either get a different one and wait a year or dont see him anymore and just forget it for the rest of my life.

I'm sure if you both develop a strong bond, you will be able to stay in contact for a very long time, maybe for life. They may not be your big, but they can still be your friend and hang out.

Be wary...this video is deceptive. It only shows kids who are passionate and interested in the program. The truth is, you will often be matched with a little who is highly deficient socially who requires more work and effort than you may be able to give. There are also plenty of kids who were forced into the program by their parents and aren't actually interested in doing it. I was just wanting someone like the video, a kid to mentor and be a big brother to, but instead, I was first placed with a teenager who could barely form sentences, and the second time I was given a younger teen who smelled like he hadn't showered in a week, and had trouble socializing from being homeschooled. You've been warned.

75% more likely to get a bachelors degree?? what about the trades? those are legit jobs that often make far more money

A trade is a great career. But a bachelors helps give you the skills to be the owner. Dream big!
