I'm 36 now and just went back to work at a course for the first time in 15 years. Never thought I would do it again. I love the work, the pay is low but I don't care. I work at a 27 hole complex with 9 workers, I cut cups, pick up trash, and roll the greens on all 27. Then cut tees, collars, and approaches, then either weedeat where the slope mowers miss or one of several other jobs around here calls for. Speed up your cup cutting by starting where your placing the pin, drop your flag and cup setter, cut the cup take it to the old hole, fill it in with the plug properly, then grab everything and go back to the fresh cut hole set the cup change the flag make sure it's straight and walk away. Also when cutting don't twist it all the way down get it past the grass then pound it down to proper level give it a half turn then pull it out will pack it in and keep it from falling out *helpful hint*.

Have been told "I get it" by superintendent where I help sweep the dew about 4 mornings a week. It's not that hard to get it but a lot of people don't get it and those are the same people that don't repair one ball mark, replace a divot, and get their ball out of the cup using a putter and think that's ok. Played front 9 at North Oaks in 1995 in high school and played as our #1 player that day. Having the practice green so close to the 1st tee resulted in Every golfer playing #2-6 that day for all the teams could easily gather around and watch my group tee off. I've never been that nervous hitting a golf ball. Where'd you hit it on 1? I don't remember but it wasn't horrible. 👏👏👏(clapping for the golf course greens crew people, not my tee shot)It's one of the best courses in Minnesota designed by a Canadian and the last in the U.S. that Stanley Thompson would do before retreating to Canada blow all his money.

DK I only did it over the summer I graduated from high school. I started college so I wasn't able to do both.

how was your experience there? I started working at an 18 hole course a little over 2 weeks ago. It's been interesting so far.

DK well it's wasn't the greatest. I didn't mind the work I thought it was cool ,but I just hated starting work at 5am and working close to 70 hrs a week. plus I made minimum wage which I though was bs considering it's Oakmont cc

Those jacobsen fairway mowers can go to hell. Ours is always breaking hydraulic lines in the middle of a pass.
@micahfritz8957 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I've also had that happen more than once

I prefer the John Deere 2653 over those jacobsens.

John Deere is awful. Any green equipment they have blows

Greetings from Golden Eagle Golf Club in Fifty lakes MN...the thing I hate about working on a course...Irrigation repairs LOL

I use the same boots love em. Your course looks really good too. The equipment seems a lot different though. I'm trying to get out to Florida and work on a course there but I'm not too sure if I'd be good enough to make it look as nice as they do. I'm used to Illinois weather, grounds.
